💚 Greens unite! 💪 Leaders from Green parties in Europe met in Brussels today. 🌍 It was wonderful, to come all together again from more than 20 countries all over Europe, as well as the representative from our Federation of Young European Greens (FYEG), our Secretary General (Benedetta De Marte), our co-chairs (Mélanie VOGEL and Thomas Waitz) and the newly elected co-presidents of the The Greens/EFA in the European Parliament (Terry Reintke and Bas Eickhout). 🌱 We reaffirmed our commitment to the Green Deal and ambitious climate policies, showing the unity & determination of the Green family to keep fighting for democracy in Europe. 🫶Over the past 5 years, we expanded our party’s geographical range, especially in the South, Centre and East of the continent. This assures that despite the setbacks, we will maintain significant political weight. We are proud to welcome new Members of the EU Parliament from these regions, some for the first time: 🇭🇷 Možemo! 🇱🇻 PROGRESĪVIE (The Progressives) 🇸🇮 VESNA - zelena stranka 🇱🇹 Demokratų Sąjunga "Vardan Lietuvos"/ The Union of Democrats "For Lithuania" 🇷🇴 Nicu Ștefănuță (as independent) 🇮🇹 And of course, to welcome Italy Europa Verde - Verdi) back, after 15 years. 🔥 The fight with the far-right didn’t end with the EU elections, it has only just begun. 🌻  We are more united than ever, filled with high ambitions on climate, social justice and the protection of democracy. 📸©️ European Greens / Bernal Revert

💚 Thank you to our Green voters for choosing courage. 🤝 Our fight for a green and social Europe continues, join us! 👉 The rise of the far-right in these elections, particularly in France, Germany, and Austria, is extremely concerning for all those who believe in a democratic European Union and in just and equal societies. Given the multiple crises we face, we must not deny the challenges ahead, but rise to face them with courage. 🫶 Although we acknowledge the important setbacks we had in some countries, we are proud that our political family has gained Members of the European Parliament (MEPs) across Europe. We especially welcome new MEPs from Croatia, Latvia, Slovenia and Lithuania to the Parliament and celebrate the gains made by strong Green voices from Southern Europe, such as in Italy. 🏅We congratulate our parties in Denmark and the Netherlands for coming first in their respective countries. The Greens remain extremely relevant forces in many countries and we want to congratulate all of the MEP candidates that fought hard for each and every seat in all countries. 💪We will work tirelessly in the next 5 years to bring our manifesto promises to life.  ✊We will not stop fighting, for the people, for Europe, for the planet & for democracy.  🌻 Do you want to join the fight? 🔗 Check out our website to join a Green party near you (link also in the bio)  https://lnkd.in/evc_Fp3h #EUElections2024 #EP2024 📸 Nils Leon Brauer

Southern Germany and Northern Italy have been hit by devastating floods. Our lead candidate Terry Reintke went to the flood-affected region and is calling for more EU cooperation on disaster relief. “Protecting our climate is fundamentally about protecting people. Our ability to respond swiftly and effectively to such disasters can save lives. The time to act is now.” Lead candidate Bas Eickhout stresses the need for climate adaptation: “Bold European action is crucial to mitigate the impacts. A climate resilient Europe urgently requires the restoration of nature. Defending such policies against its right-wing opponents is crucial for our survival and prosperity.” Europe is the fastest warming continent, with temperatures rising at around twice the global average rate. In 2021, more than 200 people died due to floods in Europe, and a total of 60,000 premature deaths were reported due to heatwaves in 2022. It’s time to act! In this week’s elections, the future of the Green Deal and climate action is on the ballot. Vote Green to protect people and the planet. #ChooseCourage on 6-7-8-9 June! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️For many of us, our identities are disputed, and rights debated.  This needs to change: we need to shout louder, stand prouder and fight back with love and bravery.   Against homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia. That is why we share this testament of courage and freedom from author, refugee and queer activist Alejandra.   Far-right and conservative groups often target those who simply seek to live their truth. These forces create division and hatred, unfairly painting our transgender siblings as the antagonists in an unjust moral panic. Raise your voice with ours.  Don't let hatred overpower our love and unity.  Let’s #ChooseCourage to support and embrace our siblings who are under attack. Remember: no one is free until all of us are free. 📹 Video credits: The story of Alejandra Ortiz (IG @alejandraortiz_mex) Illustrated & animated by Aisha Madu (IG @aisha_madu) Music by Jeremy Coubrough (IG @jeremycoubrough)
