Young people cannot be treated differently just because they are young. As the workforce’s future, we want them to thrive in their careers from their first professional experience by being treated fairly and equally. This includes a ban on unpaid internships which we strongly support. Improving the quality of traineeships across the EU is a priority. We call on the European Commission to improve its proposals to ensure these goals are met. Read more → europa.eu/!BQcPkx European Youth Forum CES - ETUC #BanUnpaidInternships #EUTraineeship

4️⃣5️⃣ years ago, Simone Veil became the first directly elected President of the European Parliament and the first woman ever to hold this position. What better anniversary than this historic one to reaffirm the need to continue supporting the fight for gender equality. The commitment and dedication of the EU institutions and EU civil society are crucial for the continued empowerment of women and girls. 📢 Working together on SDGs = achieving the 2030 Agenda. There cannot be a sustainable future if we do not work together–international organisations, EU institutions, social partners, and civil society. Honoured to have participated in this year's United Nations High-Level Political Forum in New York 🇺🇸, a key opportunity to bring #EUCivilSociety's demands on SDGs to the international stage. 💬 Our message has been clear: "Engaging civil society and youth is key to advancing the 2030 Agenda. Only by collaborating together can we boost transparency, accountability, and inclusivity in SDG implementation." It was a great opportunity also to meet high-level figures such as UN Under SG for Policy Guy Ryder, UN ECOSOC President Paula Narváez Ojeda and UN Under Secretary General for Economic and Social Affairs Mr. Li Junhua, among others, to discuss common work on strengthening SDG implementation and potential collaboration. We stand ready to emphasise this further at the upcoming Summit of the Future. Read more on this mission ➡️ europa.eu/!NhWknB 📷 HLPF 2024, New York, ©️ European Union. #HLPF2024 #Agenda2030

What is the state of democracy in Europe? The European elections showed that voters are pro-EU in their majority but demand urgent political responses to the challenges raised in the electoral campaign. We believe that the EU is the only answer to promote and defend democracy in Europe. Together with #EUCivilSociety and national authorities, we can truly make democracy more open, resilient and inclusive. A democracy that improves lives across the Union. We stand ready to contribute significantly to these efforts. For more, check our resolution: europa.eu/!kYYGyK #CohesionPolicy #EUCivilSociety

Have you missed our #EESCPlenary? Our members gathered at the European Parliament to debate on democracy, the Hungarian Presidency of the EU Council priorities, traineeships, and cohesion policy. The key messages in a nutshell: 🇭🇺 We stand ready to work closely with the Hungarian Presidency to ensure that the EU takes action on what Europeans feel are the most urgent priorities. 🇪🇺 The EU is the only answer to promote and defend democracy in Europe. ⚖️ All trainees should be treated fairly and have equal access to social protection. 🤝 We call for a new impetus for cohesion policy addressing the disparities between and within regions and society.
