💬 "The European Parliament and the European Commission should also take steps to encourage member states to develop and implement national brain health plans. This would include the establishment of an Intergroup on brain health and research in the next parliamentary term." During the European Brain Health Summit organized by the European Academy of Neurology, MEP Johan Van Overtveldt highlighted the need for a better prioritization of brain health, research and innovation during the coming mandate. This strong statement clearly echoes the #NoHealthWithoutBrainHealth campaign, now supported by more than 75 organisations, calling for an Intergroup on Brain Health and Research, the continued creation of national brain plans and a comprehensive European brain strategy. 📺 Watch the full address: https://lnkd.in/eRPAf66S 🔎 Learn more about the campaign: https://lnkd.in/eEtvJuZJ 🖋 Support our Call to Action as an Organisation: https://lnkd.in/eWVSzkHX ▶ Look back at the European Brain Health Summit: https://lnkd.in/dqGPua9z

🧠 July 22nd marks #WorldBrainDay, led by the World Federation Of Neurology, which takes place this year under the overarching theme #BrainHealthAndPrevention. On this occasion we would like to emphasise the importance of preventive care for optimal #Brainhealth. Join us in making it an EU priority! From the #NoHealthWithoutBrainHealth campaign to the #Rethinking projects, #ValueOfTreatment, Brain Innovation Days, and EU-funded projects such as Coordination & Support Action BrainHealth, BRAINTEASER Project, PRIME H2020, HEREDITARY, ETERNITY and AGORA, we strive to prioritise brain health in the EU. Society faces unprecedented brain challenges. With 64 countries holding major elections in 2024 amid political and economic instability, the #NoHealthWithoutBrainHealth campaign stresses the urgent need for increased brain R&D investment. Compared to other disease areas, multiple factors hinder the pace of innovation in this field, including the complexity of the brain itself. The Brain Innovation Days, organised by EBC, were created to bring together key players in brain research and innovation, accelerate investment and showcase ongoing work. Join us in Brussels, 13-14 November 2024 at the EGG, for two days of cutting-edge brain innovation and register before 31 July to benefit from the early bird rate! The Value of Treatment for Brain Disorders (VOT), coordinated by EBC, addresses unmet healthcare needs and the growing burden of brain disorders by converge data evidence to policy recommendations on how to improve the care pathways. Despite recent innovations, people with brain conditions still face unequal access to optimal care. The Rethinking Projects aim to develop policy priorities to address these challenges and redesign care pathways for better treatment in Europe. 🔍 Find out more on the EBC website: https://lnkd.in/eK_HiAmD
