European Biogas Association

Renewable Energy Semiconductor Manufacturing

The European Biogas Association is the leading European non-governmental organisation promoting renewable gas in Europe.

About us

European Biogas Association (EBA) was founded in February 2009 as a Belgian non-profit organisation aiming to promote the deployment of sustainable biogas production and use in Europe. This covers all energetic applications of biogas like heat, electricity and automotive fuel. EBA’s membership comprises national biogas associations, institutes and companies from over 20 countries all across Europe. The member associations cover the majority of producers, companies, consultants and researchers in the field of biogas within Europe. EBA’s strategy defines three priorities: establish biogas as an important part of Europe’s energy mix, promote source separation of household waste to increase the gas potential and support the production of biomethane as vehicle fuel.

With new faces stepping in post-EU elections, it is crucial to introduce the biogas sector and its key role in realising a vision for a greener and more sustainable Europe. 🌱 What is biogas? It is a renewable energy source produced from organic matter such as household and industrial waste, sewage sludge, urban wastewater, and manure. This process supports the shift to circularity by turning waste into valuable energy, reducing our reliance on fossil fuels. Biogas can provide renewable heat and power as well as green fuel. The residues from biogas production also offer significant benefits: bio-CO2 can be reused in various industries, and the nutrient-rich matter left behind in the digester is ideal for organic farming, completing the cycle of organic waste use. 🎥 Watch our video to find out more. #biogas #biomethane #sustainable

On what aspects do we need to act to give a definitive boost to the 𝐛𝐢𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐨𝐫 𝐢𝐧 𝐈𝐫𝐞𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐝, following the 𝐍𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐁𝐢𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐧𝐞 𝐒𝐭𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐠𝐲 implementation? We asked Harmen Dekker, CEO of the European Biogas Association (EBA): https://bit.ly/4cItdbX

  • Introducing our new sponsor of the European Biomethane Week: DESOTEC. Years of innovation have led to the development of DESOTEC’s specially designed production facility and groundbreaking purification solution. This facility is a game-changer, transforming highly sulphur-loaded spent carbon into a closed-loop model safely and efficiently. By valorising all pollutants, DESOTEC's solution achieves zero discharge and is completely pollutant-free. This not only addresses current needs cost-effectively but also reduces reliance on non-European sources, paving the way for a more environmentally responsible future. 📌Join us at the EBA Conference on 23 and 24 October in Brussels and meet representatives from DESOTEC in person. https://lnkd.in/gWi2gyEg Find out more about DESOTEC: https://lnkd.in/eSTzSZk6 #EBAConference #EUBW2024 #biogas #biomethane

  • We are delighted to announce that Cycle0 is supporting the European Biomethane Week! CycleØ’s activities focus on capturing methane from the agri-food, industrial and municipal sectors and turning it into biomethane for vehicles and grid injection. Their latest milestone? The inauguration of Spain's first biomethane plant with ammonia stripping in Cataluña. CycleØ plans to have 20 biomethane plants underway or operating in Spain by the end of 2024. These facilities represent a total investment of €50 million and will produce 240 GWh of biomethane annually. 📌Join us at the EBA Conference on 23 and 24 October to learn more about CycleØ's approach to sustainable agriculture. https://lnkd.in/gWi2gyEg Find out more about CycleØ recent activities: https://lnkd.in/emm6aujm #EBAConference #EUBW2024 #biogas #biomethane #agriculture #sustainability

  • Curious about the sustainable impact of biomethane? Here are some real-life examples of how its use makes a difference. Did you know that an average European biomethane plant produces 468 m³ of biomethane per hour? A plant of that size can: ✔️Save 20,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions per year 🏡 Provide year-round energy for 3,700 European households 🌱 Produce 570 tonnes of organic fertiliser per year 🚛 Fuel 100 bio-LNG trucks year-round Want to learn more?
