🖊 “Europe, and the wider global economy cannot reach the climate targets without energy efficiency” write Ramya Krishnaswamy and Catriona Campbell in the latest blog post “Unlocking European Competitiveness Through Industrial Energy Efficiency”. This topic was discussed together with Monica Frassoni at the last edition of EUSEW 2024. 🔎 The post explores innovative strategies to enhance industrial #energyefficiency, including the necessary #skills. It provides policy recommendations to encourage the adoption of energy-efficient practices and highlights success stories from European business leaders who have significantly improved their #competitiveness through these measures. Finally, it offers recommendations for the next Commission to maintain momentum from both private and public leaders 🤝 💪 We value the efforts to discuss and shed light on this important topic. Let's collaborate to achieve climate targets and strengthen European resilience. 📝 Read here the full post: bit.ly/3VM5lwG Brian Motherway | International Energy Agency (IEA) | Marco Baresi | World Economic Forum | DHL | Turboden S.p.A. | ABB

⏳ As we approach tomorrow’s Council meeting, where the strategic agenda for 2024-2029 will be a key topic, we urge a stronger focus on #water and #energyefficiency to drive Europe’s #competitiveness while delivering a socially fair and green climate transition. 💧 We underscore the critical importance of the Water Resilience Initiative, emphasizing that water must be prioritized in the upcoming mandate. Integrating water management into the strategic agenda is essential for safeguarding our future and boosting Europe’s competitiveness. Together, we can build a #WaterWiseEU and make water a central priority for the next five years! 👉 Read our joint letter to deliver the Water Resilience Initiative: bit.ly/49M30rx 📄 Check out EU-ASE's Water Strategy Document: bit.ly/3wfFyUR ⚠ We also call on policymakers to ensure the well-being of all Europeans by advancing energy efficiency and phasing out fossil fuels, as these steps are essential for achieving #netzero goals. ✒ Along with a group of stakeholders, we have signed a letter urging EU and national policymakers to prioritize #skills and workforce development in the new EU institutional term. The letter highlights that trends in digitalisation, #energyefficiency, and industrialisation require reshaping the current labour market and states that “policymakers must address systemic skills and labour shortages as a top priority for Europe’s transformation, so that the labour market is an enabler rather than an obstacle to realise the objectives set in Europe for the past 5 years”. 🚨 We urge decision makers to implement the skills provisions in the Energy Efficiency Directive on time, secure funding, assess current and future workforce needs in strategic sectors and reform education systems. 📝 The letter and its key asks are fully aligned with the creation of a European Pact of Skills for Energy Efficiency that we will launch in the next weeks. ⚡ Today, EUASE and its members had a productive meeting with Mr. Adam Romanowski and Mr. Dino Toljan from Cabinet VP Šefčovič to discuss #energyefficiency in alignment with the policy asks outlined in our Manifesto, as well as the implementation and funding of the #GreenDeal. During the meeting, it was emphasized that to maintain the EU’s leadership in energy efficiency, the EE1st principle should be on top of our political agenda and serve as the primary driver for achieving the 2040 and 2050 goals. Energy efficiency not only is key for EU climate goals but also for our Union’s competitiveness. 🔝Another highlight is that a systemic approach to the energy system is essential, with a focus on sector integration while prioritizing energy efficiency at every step. This involves leveraging public and private financing and allocating available funding to energy efficiency. 🤝 EUASE’s industry members are ready to take action and support the implementation of the legislative framework of the European #GreenDeal and working on further cooperation with policy makers from EU institutions and Member States.
