Together with a coalition of organisations representing various sectors, we called on President Ursula von der Leyen to release updated guidance and FAQs on the EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR). While we welcome the recent updates from the Commission’s Expert Group, businesses urgently need clear resources to ensure compliance. Without this guidance, uncertainty could hinder efforts toward sustainability and regulatory goals. We urge the European Commission to prioritise releasing these tools to support industry compliance and environmental objectives. 🌍 Today is the International Day of Awareness on Food Loss and Food Waste – a reminder of the immense impact food waste has on our environment. In 2020 alone, food waste in the EU was estimated to be responsible for 252 Mt of CO2, accounting for about 16% of the total greenhouse gas emissions (GHG) from the EU food system. If food waste were a Member State, it would be the 5th largest emitter of GHG emissions in the EU. By investing in the circular economy, we can significantly reduce food loss and waste, making strides towards mitigating GHG emissions and building a more resilient food system. Retailers and wholesalers are taking action to support sustainable operations. Through sector and company initiatives, we are reducing resource use and minimizing the environmental impact of our activities. First time in Iceland together with EuroCommerce's Nordic members. Time for learning and seeing the amazing sites! Discussing challenges ahead, the common themes for #retail and #wholesale: 🏪Need to address labour and skills shortages. 📃Managing and hopefully reducing the crippling regulatory burden. 📈Ensuring competitiveness and improving participation in R&D. 🌎 Ensuring fair competition and tackling non compliance with EU rules from some non EU online platforms. An eye opener on how many great initiatives are underway in 🇩🇰Denmark, 🇫🇮 Finland, 🇮🇸 Iceland, 🇳🇴 Norway, and 🇸🇪 Sweden - working nationally, with trade unions, education and government to support competitiveness and shape a positive future for retail and wholesale and its workers (present and future).

European court #CJEU rules in price reduction case C-330/23. When a trader refers to a previous price in a promotion (price reduction announcement) it has to refer to the lowest price in the past 30 days (Art. 6a Price Indication Directive). The promotion price cannot be the same or higher than the lowest price in the past 30 days.
