🔸Supporting the growth of 𝗽𝗿𝗶𝘃𝗮𝘁𝗲 𝗺𝗮𝗿𝗸𝗲𝘁 𝗳𝘂𝗻𝗱𝘀 requires better education and a resilient market infrastructure. More than 60 asset managers, distributors, investors, and partners gathered in Bangkok, #Thailand, on 10 July to exchange insights on the latest trends within the private market fund industry at an event organised by Euroclear FundsPlace. After the opening by Luc Vantomme from Euroclear, Audrey The-Dumas from Cambridge Associates described the changing landscape of private market funds, concluding that they have clearly earned their place in institutional and High-Net-Worth Individuals (#HNWI) portfolios. However, education and awareness on the specific characteristics of #PrivateMarket #Funds is critical, as the complexity and variety of private market investments have increased. The panel discussion with Prabhat Ojha from Cambridge Associates, Yuanyuan Sabrina Meng, CFA from Oaktree Capital Management, L.P., Premal Vadgama and Winston (Yukun) Jin both from #Euroclear, concluded that investing in #PrivateMarkets is a long-term engagement; choosing the robust and resilient partners to support investment decisions and operational activities is key. There appeared a clear need to converge bespoke operational process for each private market asset, to a standardised and automated process covering all #Fund #AssetClasses - mutuals and alternatives. Philippe Laurensy, Euroclear’s Head of Group Strategy & Innovation, was speaking recently at the Point Zero Forum 2024 in Zurich, Switzerland, on ways to increase growth potential and investment diversification. It was another great opportunity to engage in conversation with industry experts on the opportunities and challenges in opening #PrivateMarkets to retail investors. Attracting more investors into the private asset space is a key focus. Access to private markets is opening up and becoming easier thanks to recent advances in technology along with major strides in increasing transparency and knowledge building to ensure investors are enabled to make informed decisions. But there’s still a long way to go to give investors the confidence they need to enter private markets. While private markets offer opportunities for growth, they alone will not offer the protection we need to successfully navigate the risks emerging from the current and future financial and geopolitical environment – which seem set to stay with us for some time yet. #WealthManagers need to diversify more than ever before - across asset classes, as well as geographies. During the presentation, Olek Kazimirowski and Guillaume Gobert, from the Belgian Paralympic Committee - Paralympic Team Belgium, drew parallels between sports and other life challenges. The highlight was a personal testimonial by our colleagues Bruno Vanhove, a former Paralympic athlete, and his manager Tom Debruyckere. Through their testimonial, they shared their experiences and challenges, and more importantly how they overcame them, together with the support of other Euroclear colleagues. This proves again that everyone can contribute to a more inclusive workplace. At #Euroclear, we prioritise capabilities and unlocking talent rather than focusing on what you cannot do.
