The UNWASTE initiative, in partnership with Thailand, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Vietnam, aims to tackle waste trafficking and support the shift toward a circular economy. This project is managed by the European Commission’s Service for Foreign Policy Instruments (FPI), Asia-Pacific.

EuRIC urges the EU to maintain a high level of ambition in the End-of-Life Vehicles Regulation (ELVR) by setting mandatory recycled content targets for vehicle plastics. 🚘 With 80% of ELV plastics currently landfilled or incinerated, these targets are critical to boost automotive circularity, drive investment, and protect Europe’s plastics recycling industry. 📢 We call for rejecting any attempts to weaken these targets, bringing forward a 25% recycled plastics goal within four years, and ensuring fair competition through robust certification of recycled content. ♻️ Let's secure Europe’s green and circular transition! #CircularEconomy #Recycling #GreenTransition #Sustainability #ELVs #ELVrecycling #EuRICrecycling Read our full statement here 👉 euric.link/uds

The European Environment Agency has published its latest report addressing the environmental and climate footprint of #buildings 🏢 EEA assesses the current state of Europe’s buildings stock and looks at what is needed to make Europe’s buildings more sustainable. 🌱 𝐊𝐞𝐲 𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐚𝐠𝐞𝐬: 🔸Buildings represent over 30% of the EU's environmental footprint, making them the sector with the highest impact. 🔸EU policies currently address aspects such as energy efficiency and waste management, but a unified strategy covering all life cycle stages is needed to optimise synergies and reduce trade-offs. 🔸The future should prioritise renovation and low-impact construction, emphasising energy efficiency and climate resilience while incorporating nature-based solutions. #ECDB #CDW #Building #circularity #construction

During the first formal Competitiveness Council under the Hungarian Presidency, held on 26 September, Member States’ ministers discussed – among other topics – the Draghi report, the EU’s state aid framework, and the situation of SMEs in the single market. They identified key elements from the report to be included in the New European Competitiveness Deal, a flagship initiative of the Hungarian Presidency. This deal will be adopted as Council Conclusions during the informal EU heads of state and government meeting in Budapest on 8 November.
