The Steering Committee of our #EU_Rail Flagship Project 5 (#FP5) has selected the E-Coupler design by J.M. Voith SE & Co. KG as the Europe-wide standard for the Digital Automatic Coupler (DAC). Last week, our jury members attended the deliberation meeting of the Women in Rail Award 2024!🏆 This year, the jury went through 70 submissions, including 60 eligible applications: 🙋🏼♀️ 18 for the Women Empowerment Award 🙋🏻♀️ 21 for the Leadership & Mentoring Award 🙋🏽♀️ 21 for the R&I in Rail Award The three winners will be invited to InnoTrans in Berlin during which a dedicated Award Ceremony will be organised on 24 September. The Women in Rail Award, co-organised by ALE - European Train Drivers' Union, CER (Community of European Railway and Infrastructure Companies), the European Commission’s Women in Transport Platform, European Union Agency for Railways, European Rail UNIFE, EIM European Rail Infrastructure Managers, and #EU_Rail brings the spotlight on winning combinations, inspiring role models, and outstanding research and #innovation achievements for women and by #women that are bringing the railway industry forward. Our #EU_Rail project LEADER 2030 recently held a consortium meeting in Florence, Italy to discuss the finalisation of the ‘Map of Railway Needs in 2030’. This map outlines the innovative products and components set to emerge from the #EU_Rail activities by 2030. Key trends highlight the critical need for advanced chips, emphasising supply chain considerations amid market, geopolitical, and climate challenges.
