Retrofitting in Tight Places: HZI to modernise Schwandorf WtE Plant 🇩🇪 HZI has been awarded a significant contract to supply two new high-performance lines to Schwandorf Waste to Energy plant as part of the Triphönix project, substituting 3 existing lines all the while increasing the plant’s capacity. What makes this project special? 🔹 Historic Collaboration: we are replacing 3 original Steinmüller lines, built in 1982, with 2 lines using state-of-the-art technology. 🔹 Boosting Capacity: The new lines will handle 22 tonnes/hour of waste each, increasing the with a combined capacity of approximately 350,000 tonnes/year. Each boiler unit will boast a thermal output of 67.2 MWth, ensuring more efficient energy production. 🔹 Efficiency & Innovation: Our innovative boiler setup, tailored to the limited space, uses special design and cleaning technology to maintain efficient heat transfer and reduce maintenance costs. The Impact: This WtE plant is a pivotal plant for the region, treating waste for 1.91 million inhabitants across 17 towns and cities. The upgrade, to be completed by 2031, will ensure continuous waste disposal and energy supply even during construction.
