Solar Heat Europe joins REN21 today !! REN21 is the only global renewable energy policy network bringing together actors from science, governments, NGOs and industry. Created 20 years ago, its core mission is to “enable decision-makers to make the shift to renewable energy happen – now”. REN21 is also well known for the quality of its reports released annually on the state of play of energy use, renewable uptake, energy transition financing and national policy monitoring. In its latest report launched last week, the Renewables in Energy Supply Module of the Renewables 2024 Global Status Report, one of the key findings highlights that although we now generate 30.3% of electricity from renewables, heat and fuels, which deliver three quarters of energy supply are still being neglected. “We are delighted to welcome Solar Heat Europe to our community,” said Rana Adib, Executive Director of REN21. “Heat represents almost 50% of the global energy supply, and there is massive untapped potential for solar heat to replace fossil fuel heating. We are keen to collaborate with Solar Heat Europe as a key industry player and knowledge partner of our global network.” “Solar Heat being one of the key renewable sectors providing heat, it was only natural that Solar Heat Europe would join this fantastic community and interact with all its valuable members” said Valérie Séjourné, Managing Director of Solar Heat Europe. “Our sector is definitely keen to play its fair share towards the sustainable transformation of the energy mix with our direct supply of renewable heat from the sun’s energy ; our members are fully committed to the values and mission of REN21.” To access our full release, visit out website

🌞📈 On the occasion of our sunny General Assembly meetings in Brussels, we released the 2023 market report today. The report highlights 1.8 million m² of newly installed capacity of #solarthermal collectors across Europe. The sector calls for an acceleration of #measures by #publicauthorities with clear and consistent policy signals and incentives for #solarheat, providing an efficient, resilient, and EU-made energy source for #buildings and #industrial users. 🏠 Currently, eleven million #rooftops in Europe are equipped with #solar thermal collectors, delivering 41 GWth of clean energy harnessed from the sun's free energy. 🆙 With proper #support, our sector can deliver significantly more direct #renewableheat to citizens and cities across Europe. You might have seen posts saying June brings great events for us, and we meant it. Some have already happened, while others started today. The end of the month brings our #members to Brussels for our General Assembly events. 🌞 🎯 Today was enriched with strategic discussions on the different market segments #solarthermal encompasses, such as #buildings, #industries, and #districtheating. We discussed challenges and next steps. This evening, the discussions extend beyond our sector to our #partners. 🤝 To achieve #energy and #climate goals, we must join forces with European #policymakers, national policymakers, the #renewables sector, end-users of energy at both small and large scales, #cities, #financing bodies, #media, and many more. The biggest challenge, which has not been properly addressed until now, is: Heat. ♨️ In the words of Pierre Schellekens, Director DG ENER, European Commission: “We need to take the #energytransition one step forward. It is not enough to decarbonise only electricity. Now comes #heating, #cooling, and #transport. We are nowhere close. We have to revisit how we see system integration, we have to revisit how we see heating and cooling.” We fully agree with this and our sector is #ready to contribute. We want to do it in partnership with as many of you as possible. 💪🏻 #heatishalf #solariseheat #solarheatissmart #solarenergy #solar #renewableenergy #decarbonisation #collaboration #eupolicy #europe
