"Solar Thermal Energy on the Rise - Perspectives for Heat #Transition and Sustainable #Fuels". ☀🔥💧🌳 This was the motto of the 𝟮𝟳𝘁𝗵 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗼𝗴𝗻𝗲 𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗮𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗼𝗾𝘂𝗶𝘂𝗺, which was held for the first time this year as a face-to-face event in the new premises of the DLR Institut für Future Fuels and DLR Institut für Solarforschung at the Jülich site. Throughout the day, speakers from research and #industry provided a highly topical insight into the potential of solar thermal energy for heat generation in various application areas and its role in the production of sustainable fuels in cooperation with industrial companies. After the presentations, the guests had the opportunity to visit the nearby Synhelion #DAWN facility, as well as the Deutsches Zentrum für Luft-und Raumfahrt e.V. Solar Towers. This was followed by a lively exchange of expertise in the new premises of the DLR institutes. We should stop 🙅🏽♀️ saying the following about solar thermal: "It's complicated". All engineers you can spot in the picture confirmed the opposite, and Heat Changers prove in multiple forms that it is easy to explain. "It's great, but..." Solar thermal is a reliable, proven, durable, and market-available technology. FULL STOP. No need to add a "...but..." All challenges can be worked out. Applause for Dominik Bestenlehner from Ritter Energie- und Umwelttechnik GmbH & Co. KG for those words. 👍🏾 What we should do more: 🤩 Marketing by marketing experts. 🔊 Gather at industry meetings to raise a united and strong voice for solar thermal. 😎 Dare to show off. Solar thermal is great, and there are enough facts and figures that back it up. I enjoyed so much preparing my presentation for the "Heat Is Half" session organized by the BSW – Bundesverband Solarwirtschaft e.V. during Intersolar Europe. I didn't expect a room packed with highly experienced peers from multiple leading organizations in the solar thermal industry, so I thought my speech would not be as interesting. They know everything I had included on my slides. Therefore, I was so happy to get so much positive feedback and to know that my way of presenting is inspiring for many of them. I guess that's why I do marketing. Attitude, words, and visuals matter! Thanks a lot to Juliane Hinsch and Charlotte Brauns for making this session possible and also to everyone who showed up.
