Facilitating cooperation between national gas Transmission System Operators to achieve European Union energy goals
About us
The role of the European Network of Transmission System Operators for Gas (ENTSOG) is to facilitate and enhance cooperation between national gas transmission system operators (TSOs) across Europe, to ensure the development of a pan-European transmission system in line with European Union energy goals. ENTSOG’s tasks are mainly defined in Regulation (EC) No 715 / 2009. This includes developing network codes for market and system operation, elaborating the Ten-Year Network Development Plan (TYNDP), providing regular information on gas supply and demand for the European market and delivering common operational tools to ensure network security and reliability. ENTSOG work is continuing to evolve: from designing the secondary legislation and fulfilment of conferred regulatory tasks, monitoring the effects of the agreed outcomes through to responding to future challenges and building on achieved results. While its focus remains on monitoring Network Code implementation, ENTSOG future activities will also include assessing the progress of the functionality of the European gas markets and looking at longer term horizons for European Scenarios.

Thank you all for joining our joint ENTSOG & ENTSO-E #TYNDP scenarios workshop, where we closed the 2024 process and kicked off the 2026 cycle. A broad range of stakeholders, such as the European Commission, EU Agency for the Cooperation of Energy Regulators (ACER), the European Scientific Advisory Board on Climate Change and the Stakeholders' Reference Group (SRG) provided their comments on the 2024 and 2026 scenario work. Experts exchanged on the lessons learned and outlined the plans for the 2026 Scenarios, including an overview of the scenario-building process and the possibilities for stakeholders to contribute further to the process in the months to come. ENTSOG and ENTSO-E also presented the initial orientations for the storylines of the 2026 Scenarios. Following the recent approval of the Hydrogen and Decarbonised Gas Market Package, we welcomed the presence of pre-ENNOH representatives who will be involved from the beginning in the 2026 cycle alongside ENTSOG and ENTSO-E. We look forward to working together with ENTSO-E, ENNOH and all stakeholders alike in the years to come. The recording of the webinar will be made available in the following days. Today, Piotr Kus, ENTSOG, joined the 10th edition of the European Commission's Energy Infrastructure Forum, and actively participated in the high-level policy session on fast-tracking towards the EU’s net zero energy infrastructure. Discussions centered on #infrastructure planning for gas and electricity to support the ongoing decarbonisation efforts, where ENTSOG’s contributions to the exchanges allowed us to emphasise the following key points and challenges to be addressed 👇 📍 Energy System Integration is at core of the work, evidenced in the ongoing cooperation with ENTSO-E and once established – ENNOH. 📍 In #TYNDP 2024, projects submitted show important trend of significant increase of #H2 projects. 📍 Need to plan and think together to enhance the interlinkages and synergies between electricity, H2 and gas systems to speed up decarbonisation process. 📍 Futureproofing new infrastructure as much as possible. #Repurposing existing infrastructure will develop this grid in the most cost-efficient and quick way. 📍 #H2 investments need to be taken now. Support investment decisions with a clear, robust framework. Many thanks to Kadri Simson, Commissioner for Energy, for the organisation of these exchanges.
