Yesterday we had a top visit by Claire Waysand, ENGIE Executive Vice President and General Secretary, and Olivier Sala, Group Vice President for Research & Innovation. Between Lab tours and a popular Ask Me Anything “fireside” chat session, it was also a great occasion to inaugurate our newest PV solar installation in VIP style. The photos say it all; but we particularly like the pic of our proud Angelo Rodriguez Garcia, PV specialist and engineer behind the installation design and Bernard Dethy, our Site Infrastructure manager on either side of a smiling Claire as she does the honours. Thank you Claire and Olivier for this special visit! And thanks to all the teams at Laborelec, part of ENGIE Research & Innovation, whose work made this day a success. Last Friday, we hosted the Royal Belgian Society for Energy (SRBE-KBVE) "Battery Energy Storage: The Rise and Challenges of This New Green Asset” Seminar🎤. A fully charged 🔋⚡day more than 90 attendees thanks to the many expert speakers covering the topic... With our colleague Cyril Daniels enriching the session with his expertise; the level of knowledge and discussions shared generated a real sense of the positive future this technology holds in store. Interest in the afternoon’s guided visits by Olivier Antoine and Cyril Daniels to Laborelec’s own battery labs and facilities confirmed this. Thanks and congratulations to the inspiring presenters from: Bstore - Estorlux, EnergyVille/VITO, ENGIE Belgium, Vrije Universiteit Brussel, Memoco, Octave, John Cockerill, International Energy Agency (IEA), SWECO as well as the KBVE-SRBE organisers for such a high-powered event. Bravo! Interested to know more about our battery labs? Reach out to our contact form: https://lnkd.in/eAPr2MVn #BESS #Seminar

Big micro-mesoscale news for #wind farm developers: An intense research calculation/modelling campaign by Laborelec with the von Karman Institute for Fluid Dynamics looks good for better wind farm yield predictions. Instead of relying on either microscale OR mesoscale models to anticipate wind farm production, an innovative #research project, led by #Laborelec expert Claude Abiven, has tested the potential of combining both models. With multiple model combinations studied and the last computer calculations reaching completion; results look highly promising. We’re 100% behind ENGIE Belgium's campaign encouraging more women to grow their careers and share their talents and passions in the energy engineering sector. Why? Because Laborelec knows first-hand the value our many women colleagues and experts, like Alyssa Vanginderdeuren – Mathematical Engineer, who features in the campaign, bring to our teams and business. Our world wouldn’t be the same without your creativity, determination and positive power! Bring it on ladies! #hiring #recruitment #WomenInTech #WomenInEnergy #EqualityInEngineering
