🌍 How can we secure a sustainable energy future in Belgium? And what role will industrial flexibility play?   These crucial questions lie at the heart of the GALILEO project, which was officially launched earlier this month! Coordinated by EnergyVille / VITO and funded by the Energy Transition Fund, this groundbreaking initiative brings together top academic and industrial players to tackle one of the biggest challenges of our time: building a more flexible and resilient electricity grid in the midst of rapid decarbonisation.   🔑 Key objectives of GALILEO: - Explore the potential of industrial flexibility. - Overcome barriers to the provision of flexibility. - Innovate energy procurement strategies. - Support robust business cases for industry players.   Through real-world demonstration cases with leading companies and a comprehensive roadmap for industrial flexibility, GALILEO aims not only to strengthen Belgium’s position in the energy transition, but also to set a precedent for industrial decarbonisation and electrification across Europe.   Curious to find out more about this innovative project? 🔋 Last week imec/EnergyVille, as coordinator of the H2020 SOLiDIFY consortium, and 13 partners, announced the development of a high-performance lithium-metal solid-state battery. 🔌🚗 Manufactured in our labs, the prototype battery pouch cell features a unique "liquid-to-solid" electrolyte, achieving 1070 Wh/L energy density. The cost-effective process is adaptable to current lithium-ion production lines, advancing commercially viable solid lithium batteries for electromobility. 👉 Read more: https://lnkd.in/egUxeRqD
