The recent discussion between Hungary’s Health Minister and the ENVI committee highlighting the importance of boosting #OrganDonation across the EU is a positive step. With chronic illnesses on the rise, and a significant decline in donation post-COVID, Europe urgently needs a renewed, strategic approach to increase organ. EKHA calls for a second EU Organ Donation Action Plan to improve transplant outcomes and meet the needs of patients across Europe. 👉Read more on the importance of organ donation in our Kidney Health Manifesto: https://lnkd.in/dzJfSuh4 #Transplantation #KidneyHealth #EUHealth

It was a privilege to speak at the EDTNA/ERCA - European Dialysis and Transplant Nurses Association/European Renal Care Association meeting in Athens, where our president, Raymond Vanholder, highlighted EKHA’s advocacy efforts within the EU political landscape. Along with Ilaria de Barbieri President of EDTNA/ERCA, we discussed the critical role that patients, healthcare professionals, and organizations play in raising awareness of the burden of #KidneyDisease. As the dawn of the 2024-2029 mandate, we look forward to strengthening collaboration and pushing for concrete kidney health policies across Europe. #KidneyHealth #EUHealth #PolicyAdvocacy

EKHA joins in marking #WorldHeartDay 2024! EKHA fully supports efforts to raise #awareness about cardiovascular health, especially given the multiple links between #heart and #kidney disease, as most #kidneypatients suffer from #CVD and at least a third of CVD patients have #ChronicKidneyDisease. To ease the burden of both diseases, it’s vital to continue considering the ties between #CKD and CVD!

EKHA is proud to support CompCure's efforts on #C3GAwarenessDay. Raising awareness for rare kidney diseases is vital to improve both diagnosis and treatment. Together, we are working towards better EU-wide solutions for early detection and care. Let’s continue to push for policies that provide real change for patients and their families. #RareKidneyDiseases #Advocacy #healthcare
We continue to mark C3G Awareness Day 🗓️ Rare kidney diseases, including C3G and IC-MPGN, create significant uncertainty for those affected 💛 National kidney health plans could support optimal care and better outcomes for all afftect patients and their families 👨👩👦. 🙏 European Reference Network, ERKNet, International Society of Nephrology, EKHA - European Kidney Health Alliance, European Renal Association (ERA)

Today, on #C3GAwarenessDay, we stand with CompCure to raise awareness about rare kidney diseases like C3G and IC-MPGN. Due to late diagnosis, many kidney patients have to undergo long hospital stays and challenging care journeys. Early detection is crucial to improve patients’ outcomes, which is why we support initiatives to further national screening programs. At EKHA, we are committed to driving EU-level actions to ensure all patients receive the care they deserve. #KidneyHealth #RareDiseases #EarlyDetection
Today we mark C3G Awareness Day 🗓️ The lack of awareness 🎗️ and focus on rare kidney diseases has consequences for the affected individuals, their families 👨👩👦 and society. For the ones affected by C3G and IC-MPGN, which are two rare complement-mediated kidney diseases, the journey from early symptoms to diagnosis and optimal care often involves lengthy hospital 🏥 stays and intensive care. Early detection can significantly improve patient outcomes and provide a clear path to effective treatment. This is why we advocate for implementing national screening programs 💛 🙏European Reference Network, ERKNet, EKHA - European Kidney Health Alliance, International Society of Nephrology

Adressing rare kidney diseases in health care plans is crucial! That is why EKHAworked together with a panel of experts from the nephrology community to identify policy actions to address the challenges that hinder the provision of targeted care for rare kidney diseases. Everyone world-wide should be able to answer this question: #areyourkidneysOK? Many primary care clinics in low and lower middle income countries have no creatinine or urine tests available. They cannot answer this! Essential diagnostics are required everywhere - to be paired with essential medicines …if we are to successfully ensure everybody’s kidneys are OK! Bringing the case of #kidneypatients directly to #MEPs in the European Parliament to urge action on kidney health! This week, EKHA and Renaloo: patients organization, kidney disease, transplant, dialysis are in Strasbourg to attend the first European Parliament Plenary week following the summer recess. Plenary week presents a valuable opportunity to interact with policymakers and emphasise the crucial importance of addressing #kidneydisease at the European level during this #EU legislative term. Without action, #ChronicKidneyDisease will become the 5th leading cause of death by 2050. EU support and Member State efforts are vital to improve primary and secondary prevention, enhance organ donation and transplantation, and foster #innovation in #kidney replacement therapies! Now is the time to work together to ease the burden of #kidneydisease in #Europe! Discover EKHA’s Kidney Manifesto: https://bit.ly/3ProQZ1
