  • 🌍📊 New Eurobarometer Survey Results: EU Citizens Strongly Support EU Energy Policy! The latest Eurobarometer reveals that European citizens are overwhelmingly supportive of the EU's energy policies over the past five years. Key findings include: ✅ Backing for EU energy policy: citizens widely support efforts made in the energy sector, with a call for even greater EU-wide coordination. 🔋 Affordable energy: Europeans want more actions at both EU and national levels to reduce energy prices and make them more accessible. 💡 Consumer choices: 24% believe that Europe has helped in making better choices for energy suppliers, while 18% say the EU has helped choosing energy-efficient products. 🔌Personal action: 77% of Europeans have changed their habits, consuming less energy at home in the last five years. 🏠 Home improvements: among the 44% who implemented energy-saving measures at home, nearly half invested in insulation for their roof, walls, windows, or floors. These findings highlight the growing commitment across Europe to both individual and collective energy-saving initiatives. Let’s continue along this path! Together, we can shape a more sustainable building sector.🌱 🏢 #Eurobarometer #EnergyEfficiency #Energy #Buildings #EfficientBuildings

  • Today European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen has revealed her proposals for her new team! Discover with us the names of Commissioners nominated to shape future European policies on crucial topics such as the environment, climate, energy, the building sector, and housing. 👇 🔋 🏢 Danish Dan Jørgensen, Minister for Development Cooperation and Global Climate Policy, was assigned to the Energy and Housing Portfolio. Jørgensen is a former Minister of Climate and Energy and Public Utilities and MEP. While Minister, he advocated for an agreement to reduce Denmark's territorial emissions by 70% in 2030 compared to 1990. Being the first-ever Commissioner for Housing, Von Der Leyen urges him to focus on bringing down energy prices, investing in clean energy, and looking at all aspects from energy efficiency to construction. 🌿 📈 Dutch Wopke Hoekstra received the Climate, Net-Zero and Clean Growth Portfolio. Law graduated, he served as second Deputy Prime Minister of the Netherlands and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Minister of Finance. Since 2023, he also served as European Commissioner for Climate Action, being the EU’s main negotiator at the COP in Dubai. As Commissioner, he is expected to enshrine the 90% emission reduction target for 2040. 🚰 ♻ To Swedish Jessika Roswall goes the Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy Portfolio. Roswall is the Minister for EU affairs and Nordic cooperation and a former Member of the European Parliament, where she worked on tax and consumer policy issues. 📊 📶 Italian Raffaele Fitto receives the Executive Vice-President for Cohesion and Reforms role. Former European Affairs Minister in Italy and MEP, he will be responsible for the portfolio dealing with cohesion policy, regional development and cities, where he is expected to contribute to the European Affordable Housing Plan, injecting liquidity in the housing market, cohesion funds and policy agenda for cities. We are pleased to see that Von der Leyen has allocated several portfolios related to our sector and that highly qualified experts have been selected to lead these important roles. We share the President’s call for further implementation of the energy efficiency first principle and decarbonization of heating and cooling. Efficient Buildings Europe is looking forward to working with the new Commissioners, should the Parliament confirm the appointments, to shape the future of the building sector with a vision focused on climate and the environment.  💪 #EUCommissioners #energy #energyefficiency #buildings #efficientbuildings

  • 🔍 Draghi's report on EU Competitiveness has been released, but it overlooks critical sectors such as the construction sector and energy efficiency of buildings. Directing investments towards energy-efficient buildings and renovation is key to growth. These priorities should not be left out of the EU’s strategic focus. Indeed, reducing the massive energy waste in our buildings can deliver on several of the key themes of the Report: Reducing energy demand reduces the need to import gas and increase energy security ⛽ Lower energy demand means lower energy prices 💹 Increased renovation activity means more opportunities for quality jobs 👷♂️ Improved buildings mean higher quality of life 🍃 Better indoor environmental quality means higher productivity 📈 We will face several challenges in the upcoming years, but whether they are economic, environmental, or social, they will all be greatly assisted by the transformation of our buildings into efficient, smart, flexible assets that contribute positively to the achievement of our long-term energy and climate goals. 🏫 It’s time to put efficient buildings at the centre of the debate on the EU’s competitiveness! #energy #energyeffieincy #buildings #efficientbuildings

Today the #EuropeanCommission released its State of the Energy Union report 2024. How is Europe doing on energy efficiency and 🏡 🏢 ? PEC in the EU decreased by 4.1% decrease compared with 2021, FEC decreased by 2.8% compared with 2021. However, "More action is needed to achieve the 2030 objectives" "renovation rates and electrification remain too low and national measures are insufficient to reach a decarbonised building stock by 2050" ➡ The implementation of the #FF55 package should remain a priority of the new Commission (#EPBD, #EED, #RED) ➡ Efficient buildings are key to ↘ bills and make Europe's industry more competitive. This should be reflected in upcoming EU legislation e.g. Clean Industrial Deal, EU Affordable Housing Plan and the next Multiannual Financial Framework.

  • 🌐 #Digitalisaton is one of the EU's top challenges for the coming years. The political guidelines for the next European Commission issued by President Ursula von der Leyen frame access to data as the major driver for competitiveness and innovations related to energy savings, among others, calling for a European Data Union Strategy to support companies by improving open access to data. 👉 We share the urge for the building sector to leverage innovation and data, as digital tools can help boost energy performance, life-cycle carbon emissions and the general functioning of the buildings. Take a look at the Manifesto below to discover our commitments. 👇 #buildings #energyefficiency #efficientbuildings #energy
