A big thank you to gasworld and gasworld US for featuring our latest achievement in their Special Hydrogen & CCUS August Edition! D-CRBN is making significant strides with its CO₂-to-CO conversion technology. In collaboration with ArcelorMittal Belgium and Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, we are testing our plasma-based system at ArcelorMittal’s Ghent plant. This groundbreaking technology has the potential to revolutionize steel production by recycling CO₂ into valuable carbon monoxide, thereby reducing the reliance on coke and metallurgical coal. We are thrilled to share this milestone with the world and appreciate the support and coverage. #CarbonCapture #Utilzation #Sustainability #SteelIndustry #gasworld

About us
Battling global warming will be the toughest environmental challenge that our society has ever faced. Europe has set its objectives to reduce CO2 emissions, reaching a carbon-neutral society by 2050. D-CRBN is a cleantech company that has developed cutting-edge technology that enables the conversion of CO2. This innovative process uses plasma to split CO2 molecules into their original building blocks. These building blocks can be re-used to create valuable products such as e-fuels, chemicals, or polymers to ultimately achieve a circular and more sustainable economy.

"A picture is worth a thousand words," in this case, a short movie says even more. 🎥 Watch our latest footage about our world-first trial to recycle CO₂ emissions from steel production at ArcelorMittal Belgium. In collaboration with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) and their CO₂ capturing system, we're testing our CO₂ recycling technology at their Ghent steel plant. D-CRBN’s technology can electrify and decarbonize existing blast furnaces, significantly reducing coal use. The conversion of CO₂ back into CO for steel production will limit the need for green hydrogen in the future and reduce the costs of emission-free products. #Pilotline #TRL6 #WorldFirst #trial #CO2recycling #CCU #SteelPlant #Europe #ArcelorMittal #Belgium #MitsubishiHeavyIndustries

⚡ Press Release ⚡ World-first trial of D-CRBN’s technology to recycle CO₂ emissions from steel production begins at ArcelorMittal Belgium D-CRBN is thrilled to announce that we are piloting at ArcelorMittal in collaboration with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI). This trial involves testing D-CRBN’s technology to convert carbon dioxide (CO₂) captured at ArcelorMittal’s steel plant in Ghent, aiming to expand the scope of its ongoing carbon capture pilot project with MHI. D-CRBN’s technology can electrify and decarbonize existing blast furnaces and significantly reduce coal use. The conversion of CO₂ back into CO for steel production will limit the need for green hydrogen in the future and reduce the costs of emission-free products. We started from the bottom, and now we're here! D-CRBN was founded three years ago, emerging from a lab environment with a vision to transform and scale the CCU market. Today, we proudly announce that we are at TRL 6 and are working on our next scaling-up stage, our first commercial CO₂ recycling unit. In addition to our incredible D-CRBN team, we want to thank everyone from ArcelorMittal Belgium and MHI who has supported us along the way and made this project possible. Manfred Van Vlierberghe, Eric De Coninck, Marian Flores Granobles, Ph.D., Wim Van der Stricht, Sophie Evans, Jan Cornelis , Barbara De Lembre, Tessa De Groote, Tatsuto Nagayasu, ATSUSHI KATO, Dr.-Ing. 🌿 Exciting News! Nature Restoration Law Adopted by European Commission Council 🌿 Monday marks a historic milestone in environmental protection as the EU Council adopts the Nature Restoration Law. This regulation aims to restore 20% of the EU’s land and sea areas by 2030 and all ecosystems in need by 2050. 🌍 The law sets legally binding targets for various ecosystems, addressing climate change, natural disasters, and international commitments. Key Highlights: - Restoration to enhance climate adaptation and food security. - Targets: 30% of poor-condition habitats by 2030, 60% by 2040, 90% by 2050. - Focus on pollinators, agricultural land, forests, and urban green spaces. - Measures to restore peatlands and create free-flowing rivers. Next Steps: Member states will submit restoration plans, monitor progress, and report using EU-wide biodiversity indicators. By 2033, the Commission will review the law's impacts. Alain Maron, Minister for Climate Transition, said, “Today, the EU is choosing to restore nature, protect biodiversity, and honor our international commitments.” This effort addresses the biodiversity crisis and ensures a sustainable future for all. 🌱💚 Share your thoughts, and let's protect our planet! 🌿🌊🏞️ https://lnkd.in/dnHE4KVB
