The road to net zero for the EU #cement industry requires a significant ramp-up in targeted financial support. Today, we’re following Wopke Hoekstra's hearing as Commissioner-designate for Climate, Net Zero, and Clean Growth. We support his commitment to strengthening #CBAM, advancing carbon pricing, and prioritising carbon capture to drive Europe’s climate ambitions. Yet, we believe more emphasis on dedicated #decarbonisation #funding is essential to reach net zero in sectors like #cement. 📢 At CEMBUREAU, we’re calling for a Cleantech Deployment Fund that expands on the Innovation Fund, along with a robust, watertight CBAM aligned with EU ETS. Most of the cement manufacturing CO2 emissions originate from the #clinker production. That's why, to significantly cut CO2 emissions by 2050, access to alternative raw materials is essential. We're projecting a substantial decrease in emissions 📉, 3.5% reduction by 2030, 8% by 2050, through increased use of these materials.
