    🌟 Welcome to the BIO INX Team! 🌟 We are thrilled to welcome our summer interns, Takuto Yamaguchi, Iris Rolain, and Mohammed Yousif, all engineering students. Over the summer, they will contribute to developing new inks for #biofabrication applications. Takuto is pursuing a Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering at Ghent University. Mohammed is also pursuing a Master's in Biomedical Engineering at VUB Faculty of Engineering. Iris is studying a Master’s in Medical Bioengineering at Vrije Universiteit Brussel.     Yesterday, our CEO Jasper Van Hoorick had the pleasure of attending the MS Utrecht SummerSchool on #Biofabrication, sharing the journey of BIO INX from academia to startup and providing the latest updates on our progress, including highlights on the projects AstroCardia and HU3DINKS! As well as the latest collaborations including the recent collaboration with Rousselot on the low-endotoxin X-pure gelatins (available through our webshop: https://lnkd.in/e-8maQxj) which close the gap towards clinical applications. And our recent collaboration with Readily3D on materials for volumetric bioprinting. This event holds a special place in our hearts, as Jasper himself is an alumnus from 2015, while other team members are also proud alumni like Hannah Agten (2021) and Coralie Greant (2022). we also performed live demos of our newly launched DEGRES INX resin—a biodegradable, biocompatible resin with shape memory properties for #DLP printing. Demonstrating hands-on printing and engaging with enthusiastic students was a highlight! A huge thank you to Jos Malda and Riccardo Levato for providing us with this opportunity and for creating and maintaining this incredible initiative that continues to thrive after 11 successful years!     Update from the BIO INX family! 🌟   BIO INX is entering a dynamic new chapter in our journey! 🚀 Our growth is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and innovative spirit of our incredible team. To support this exciting transition, we're making some strategic changes that will bolster our future success.   Coralie Greant, who has been instrumental in our operational success as COO, will be transitioning out of her operational role to focus on the strategic position outside of day-to-day operation. As a consequence she will become part of our advisory board as strategic advisor. This structural change will allow Coralie Greant to focus on the long-term vision and growth initiatives of BIO INX, ensuring that we remain at the forefront of our industry. We are incredibly grateful for her exceptional contributions over the past four years, from pre-incorporation until today, shaping BIO INX into the company it is now. She has been a driving force behind our achievements, and her strategic insight, leadership and dedication have been invaluable. True to her dedicated and thoughtful nature, Coralie Greant has ensured a seamless transition and continuity by leading the hiring process for the new assets in our team, resulting in the efficient handover to Bart Catrysse, CFO and Fabienne Payet, office manager, and Jasper Van Hoorick, CEO, who will take over Coralie's operational tasks. These changes reflect our commitment to sustaining the momentum we've built and positioning BIO INX for continued innovation and growth. We are incredibly proud of how far we've come and are eager to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead.     🎉 Exciting News! 🎉 We are thrilled to announce that the Smart BioMaterials Consortium (SBMC) and BIO INX have secured a €240,000 grant from the Interreg CrossRoads Program to support our groundbreaking InCart-3D project! 💡 'From Light to Life!' 💡 Our two-year InCart-3D initiative aims to revolutionize tissue regeneration by developing advanced, osteochondral tissue-specific bioinks for light-based 3D #bioprinting. These bioinks will enhance cell functionality and effectiveness, reducing maturation time and associated costs. With around 500 million people worldwide suffering from #osteoarthritis, including over 57 million in Western Europe alone, the need for effective treatments is urgent. #Biofabrication, or bioprinting, is a rapidly emerging field within regenerative medicine. Our focus is on treating osteochondral defects, which impact both cartilage and underlying bone, often resulting from injuries, overuse, or diseases like osteoarthritis. By leveraging digital light processing (#DLP) technology, we aim to produce detailed, complex structures essential for effective bone and cartilage #regeneration.     🌟 Reflecting on a Successful Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society, Inc. (TERMIS) 2024 Conference in Seattle! 🌟 We had an amazing time at TERMIS 2024, diving into the latest scientific advancements and connecting with our valued customers to better understand their needs. It was also a fantastic opportunity to move beyond the usual Teams meetings and catch up face-to-face with our distributors. A special highlight was meeting the new colleague Jorge Madrid-Wolff from Readily3D, who performed live printing tests with READYGEL INX at the Readily 3D booth. We also had some great discussions with the REGEMAT 3D team, including Manuel Figueruela García, Sara Micó, and Iván López González, PhD, to discuss future strategies and potential synergies between our companies, and how to bring extrusion bioprinting to the next level. Finally, it was great to see Arwin Shrestha from Nanoscribe and receive some valuable user feedback on our high-resolution bioresins. We’re already looking forward to future conferences!     🌟 Today marks our second day at Tissue Engineering and Regenerative Medicine International Society, Inc. (TERMIS) 2024 in Seattle! 🌟 Please do not hesitate to visit Coralie Greant and Jasper Van Hoorick at our booth #411 for all your bio ink or biofabrication-related questions! But more importantly, find out about our scientific results: 🧬 Yesterday, Jasper Van Hoorick presented a poster on the HU3DINKS project on the development of human placenta-based bio inks. Tonight, you can find our joint postdoctoral researcher, Hannah Agten, in collaboration with the lab of Veerle Bloemen at poster B156. She will discuss the use of GEL-MA INX to regenerate cartilage and bone in rats using IPSC-derived chondrocytes and periosteum-derived cells. On Thursday, listen to the keynote of Jasper, where he will discuss the latest developments in the research group of our cofounder Sandra. Van Vlierberghe on light-based printing, as well as the translational activities of BIO INX in that field during the talk: "Biomaterials for the Generation of Scaffolds through the Power of Light" in Ballroom 6B at 1:30 PM. In the evening, visit Poster C231 to hear about the use of multiphoton lithography for the generation of a heart-on-chip model, which will be sent to space in 2026 to study the effects of accelerated cardiac ageing in space in the AstroCardia project. Finally, on Friday 28/06, listen to the talk of Oliver Kopinski-Grünwald from the lab of Aleksandr Ovsianikov at 11:45 AM in room 611/612 on the use of DEGRAD INX for the regeneration of cartilage using High-Resolution 3D-printed Microscaffolds, offering new approaches to overcome spheroid-based tissue engineering limitations.
