𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗲𝘃𝗼𝗹𝘂𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗼𝗳 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗔𝗲𝗿𝗼 𝗕𝘂𝗹𝗹𝗲𝘁 Evenepoel's journey to aerodynamic excellence began in 2018 at Bioracer HQ, where he used Bioracer Aero software to optimize his position for the Junior World Championship Time Trial in Innsbruck. In 2019, he progressed to wind tunnel testing at BikeValley, refining his suit and position for the Elite World Championships in Harrogate - a move that earned him a silver medal in his first year as a pro. These consistent improvements in time trial positioning and aerodynamics earned Evenepoel the nickname "Aero Bullet." 💨 In 2023, he conducted field testing at the Ghent velodrome to finalize his configuration for the World Championships, ultimately securing the rainbow jersey in the time trial discipline. It's been an action-packed few months for our Belgian Cycling Friends! Here is a recap from our recent events 📝   In April our Belgian Cycling Friends went to Mallorca for a unique networking and cycling trip. The sunny weather and coastal views made it a memorable experience.   May kicked off with the Belgian Cycling Ride at our headquarters in Tubize. This ride wasn't just about cycling; it marked the inaugural LM Classic, which successfully raised funds for the “Bike For Future” project of Plan International Belgium in Rwanda. Despite the rainy weather, participants embraced the true "flandrien" spirit, navigating the scenic and hilly terrains of Walloon Brabant.   Also in May, we gathered in Brussels for a networking event hosted by AG Insurance, focused on “The Power of Cycling Sponsorships.” The event featured enlightening keynotes from industry leaders Nathalie Clauwaert (Belgian Cycling), Patrice LATINNE (EY), and Jochim Aerts (Belgian Cycling Factory - Ridley Bikes). A lively panel discussion followed, offering deep insights into the impact and future of cycling sponsorships. The day concluded with a network lunch, providing a wonderful opportunity for attendees to connect and share their passion for cycling.   Looking ahead, we are excited to welcome our Belgian Cycling Friends Community on Sunday in Zottegem for the Belgian Road Championships Men and Women Elite. Duurzame partnerships bouwen kampioenen   Gisteren stond de inspirerende campus van AG Insurance hartje Brussel nogmaals in het teken van het wielrennen met het netwerkevent ‘de kracht van wielersponsoring’. Als federatie is de steun van sponsors namelijk essentieel voor de uitbouw van onze nationale ploegen en het doortrekken van de groeicurve die er vandaag is. Voor de partners van de federatie is return dan weer een belangrijk aspect om te kiezen voor de wielersport.   Directeur Nathalie Clauwaert gaf toelichting bij die return en inzicht in de werking van Belgian Cycling. Want sportsponsoring is natuurlijk veel meer dan enkel je logo op het nationale shirt of een banner. Naast het engagement is het zaak om bruikbare data te verzamelen en meetbare resultaten te zien van je investering. Het is op dat vlak van data en digitale marketing dat Belgian Cycling groeimarge ziet en vol inzet op de ontwikkeling van een alomvattende app, waar ze partners op hun beurt ook exposure kunnen bieden.   Dat brengt ons naadloos bij de 2de spreker van de dag: EY Belgium Data & Analytics Leader Patrice LATINNE. Man van de cijfers, die wijst op het groeiend belang van AI en hoe je die efficiënt kan inzetten op het vlak van wielersponsoring. Vandaag al kunnen federaties en sponsors artificiële intelligentie gericht gebruiken voor data-analyse, denk maar aan het analyseren van wieleruitslagen. Maar evengoed voor toepassingen in helmen, die dan weer de veiligheid van renners ten goede kunnen komen.   Als laatste keynote nam Jochim Aerts, CEO van Ridley Bikes, het woord rond sportmarketing. Ridley wil voor z’n teams, federaties en atleten meer zijn dan een fietsenconstructeur. Ze willen als extra service ook de marketingpuzzel daarrond leggen met unieke beleving en sterke content die zij zelf kant en klaar aanleveren op maat van de doelgroep. Return on involvement in plaats van investment, zoals Jochim het zelf noemt.   Afsluiten deden we met een panelgesprek onder leiding van moderator Maarten Vangramberen. Gastheer Rob M. (AG Insurance), Bert Roesems ( Shimano Europe B.V.), Christophe Impens, OLY (Golazo Group), Olivier Alsteens (Nationale Loterij) en Tom Van Damme (Belgian Cycling) deelden hun inzichten omtrent ontwikkeling, het belang van duurzame partnerschappen en de veiligheid van renners. Ook het vrouwenwielrennen kwam uitgebreid aan bod, wat een uitstekende piste blijkt voor sponsoring door de exponentiële groei en bijhorende media-aandacht. Al blijft kwalitatieve instroom van jonge rensters daar nog een belangrijk aandachtspunt om het groeiend aantal wedstrijden op niveau te kunnen betwisten.   Conclusie volgens president Tom Van Damme is dat het wielrennen een uitstekende return biedt naar sponsors toe. Het is een van de weinige sporten waar je in het spoor van de grote kampioenen op hetzelfde toneel kunt acteren.

Last few weeks, members of the 𝐁𝐞𝐥𝐠𝐢𝐚𝐧 𝐂𝐲𝐜𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐅𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐧𝐝𝐬 and Belgian Cycling partners were invited for the Tour of Flanders and Liège-Bastogne-Liège recon rides. Under the guidance of federal coaches Sven Vanthourenhout, Kim de Baat and Carlo Bomans, the riders conquered iconic climbs like the Koppenberg or Stockeu 🚴♂️ We already look forward to our next events to immerse our Belgian Cycling Friends in a new networking and cycling experience. In 'De Zondag' liet ik mijn licht schijnen op de nieuwe generatie Belgische klimmers en rondetalenten. Journalist Tom Vandenbussche, die zelf het jeugdwielrennen op de voet volgt, vroeg me naar een verklaring voor de hype die er de laatste jaren ontstaan is rond klimmen en welke bijdrage Belgian Cycling daarin heeft geleverd via hun klimproject. Jonge renners hebben hun horizonten verruimd van de Patersberg en de Oude Kwaremont richting het hooggebergte, en magneten als Remco Evenepoel en Cian Uijtdebroeks zorgen ervoor dat in hun zog nieuwe klimtalenten de weg vinden naar de top.
