One of the first BREEAM Outstanding In-Use Certifications in Logistics! Blue Line Storage, a logistics investment from Baltisse, has achieved a BREEAM OUTSTANDING In-Use certification. This makes Blue Line Storage only the second logistical building in Belgium to currently hold this prestigious certification. Geert Dejaeger, CEO of Dematra, highlighted the unexpected competitive advantage this certification brings: “This certification gives us an edge when talking with multinational food corporations. Our logistical services are now better aligned with their sustainability strategy.” The certification is primarily due to the innovative design and high level of automation: “We reduced the footprint for storing and handling 80,000 pallets by a factor of 6 because Blue Line Storage is a 46-meter-high building with 15 levels inside. Thanks to automated shuttles, we can move up to 12,000 pallets in a day”, adds Geert. In today's world, where sustainability is paramount, BREEAM has become the world’s leading method for assessing the sustainability of projects, including those in the logistics industry. There is a growing awareness in the sector that, as logistics buildings are often constructed on large greenfield plots, it is crucial to minimize environmental impacts and create positive outcomes. The drilling for West Flanders' largest BEO field has been successfully completed! 🌍 This BEO field is poised to supply energy for an upcoming eco-friendly residential community in Bruges, where construction is currently in full swing. This initiative will soon offer new homes to 135 families.  Mayor Dirk De fauw and Deputy Mayor for Spatial Planning Franky Demon inaugurated the project by laying the symbolic first stone this morning. "It's truly remarkable to witness the gradual transformation of this site. Every possible effort is being made to ensure that this project seamlessly integrates within the UNESCO-designated area. The inclusion of West Flanders' largest BEO field, providing an exceptionally sustainable energy solution, is an outstanding addition.
