Partner at JM Search ♦ I help companies find world-class Cybersecurity & Technology talent

The best partners have shared values and aspirations. That’s one of the reasons why I’m thrilled about JM Search’s ongoing collaboration with our global partner Amrop. JM Search and Amrop share a passion for building team-centric environments. That is not always typical in professional services and partnership-model organizations. In May, a few other JM Search partners and I traveled to Munich for Amrop’s annual conference. Meeting in person was a chance to compare notes and discuss best practices for aligning incentives for collaboration - with our internal teams and each other. Our takeaways will make us stronger organizations and partners. Our working relationship with Amrop is not only enhancing our client work, but it’s also helping us grow into the best company we can be.

Amrop at #DES2024 Oscar Garcia-Velasco, the Managing Partner of Amrop España and one of the new members of Amrop's Global Digital Practice, took part in the DES | Digital Enterprise Show in Malaga last week, and spoke to the other participants of the CAIO - Chief AI Officer role, the profile of which he and the Amrop team in Spain have developed. "In March, the White House announced that all federal agencies in the US would have to appoint a Chief AI Officer to strengthen their governance in respect of the technology. The mandate is expected to create about 100 such CAIOs by the end of May," said Garcia-Velasco. "AI is no longer a buzzword - it's a transformative force. It's paramount that its power is harnessed through effective leadership and a skilled team. The role of the AI Director or CAIO - the Chief AI Officer is pivotal and, along with the other profiles of the AI teams that will emerge, it will be them who shape the future of business." He stated the key skills that a successful CAIO should have, which include being a strategist and having a deep business understanding in order to be able to align AI initiatives with organizational objectives and priorities. While he didn't insist that the CAIO should necessarily have a highly technical background, they would need to be technically savvy and have passion for innovation and curiosity to stay abreast of the latest advances and emerging trends in the field of AI. "They would also have to be excellent communicators, since they need to be able to transmit complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences and deal with the different departments of the company." emphasized Garcia-Velasco. "And, last but not least, they need to be what I like to call an "ethical superstar" - a great moral authority with high ethical and regulatory considerations related to AI, including privacy, security and compliance requirements, as well as sustainability, diversity and inclusion." The question of leadership in relation to the use of AI will also be the key theme in the latest study launched by Amrop’s Global Digital Practice, where we will look into the new leadership competencies required and ways to develop them in order to maximize the success of introducing the use of AI in these organizations. We have been talking to leaders of midsize companies and venture businesses from larger corporations, who have shared their experience leveraging AI strategies - for their organization and customers, and will be offering our analysis, suggestions and conclusions in the context of Amrop's Digital Competency Model and the Chief AI Officer profile in the coming months. To find out more, reach out to Oscar Garcia-Velasco, Job Voorhoeve, the leader of Amrop's Global Digital Practice or the Digital Practice members in your country!

Global Digital Practice at Amrop 2024 World Conference   At the end of last month, the members of Amrop's Global Digital Practice met for a valuable, successful, and lively workshop during the Amrop 2024 World Conference, which took place in Munich.   The meeting was opened by Job Voorhoeve, global practice leader and also Partner at Amrop the Netherlands. Practice’s last year’s achievements were discussed, and a number of partners presented cross-border business cases in which they had successfully collaborated with other members of the Digital Practice on various levels. It was mentioned that the strong collaboration between the partners within the group is the core strength of Amrop – that it’s extremely helpful that partners are sharing recent cases, introducing one another with their competencies and being open and generous, which creates space for collaborations. The most active part of the meeting followed in the form of a "speed-dating" session, where partners had short 1:1 talks about clients with international potential they could jointly approach. These fruitful exchanges have previously proved and keep demonstrating that the deep sectoral knowledge and local market expertise that the Digital Practice group members have, backed by global resources, are key to long-term partnerships.   JM Search, the strategic alliance firm of Amrop in the US, was represented in the Digital Practice meeting by Jamey Cummings, the IT, Cybersecurity and Risk Practice Partner, who talked about the report JM Search and Amrop had worked on together – on CIOs and CISOs Managing Tensions and Working Together Effectively. Cummings and Voorhoeve had spoken to a number of CIOs and CISOs in the US and Europe about their approach to managing these often-competing priorities and relationships, the ways of addressing the tensions, and the governance standards needed to ensure that a cybersecurity framework aligns with organizational goals and industry security requirements.   We then heard about Digitization Hub, the independent unique digital assessment tool, which has been developed by Voorhoeve exclusively for Amrop in executive search, and the workshop ended with everyone raising a glass of champagne celebrating the success of the practice and to honor the winner of the Digital PG Award 2024 – Ewa Baranek, our Partner at Amrop Polska, whom the group thanked for her contribution to the Digital Practice by her active participation in the PG Meetings, webinars, and publications. Overall, the Digital Practice group meeting was a valuable and highly collaborative one, inspiring and empowering all group members to stay ahead of the curve in order to help organizations to pursue large-scale digital transformations. And it was fun too!   To find out more about Amrop’s Global Digital Practice reach out to Job Voorhoeve or contact the Practice member in your country!
