🇪🇺 Adra Endorses the Joint Statement for an Ambitious FP10 Adra is joining 110 European associations in advocating for increased investment in Europe’s future competitiveness through collaborative Research, Development, and Innovation (RD&I). In the current global technology race, it is crucial for the EU to enhance its RD&I investments to remain competitive. The EU Framework Programme plays a vital role in addressing this issue by mitigating market failures and reducing investment risks, thereby encouraging private RD&I investments. Its collaborative approach accelerates #technology maturation and #innovation, fostering a strong RD&I ecosystem across Member States, industry, academia, and RTOs. We are calling on the EU Institutions to significantly increase the RD&I budget for FP10. Last week Amaya Garmendia participated on behalf of #ADRA at the Generative AI and Virtual Worlds Workshop organised by the EU Competition Policy and the European Commission. The first panel discussion with Cani Fernandez CNMC (Comisión Nacional de los Mercados y la Competencia), Fabiana Di Porto (Sapienza Università di Roma), Joan O'Hara (XR Association), Sebastien Massart (Dassault Systèmes) and Mariana de la Roche Wills  explored the dynamics of competition in virtual worlds while mentioning the main competition entry barriers (i.e. secure VCs/initial investment for startups and the network effect). The importance of interoperability, standards and data portability were also raised.   Another panel focused on the competition in #GenerativeAI. Carlota Reyners Fontana, Stefan Wagenpfeil, Dominique Costesec (Google), Blanche Savary de Beauregard (Mistral AI) and Thomas Senderovitz (Novo Nordisk) raised their concerns on accessing compute to develop GenAI models, to access data to train the foundation models and to attract talents. Some main take aways of the event: 1. The presentation of Benoît Coeuré on the report produced by Autorité de la concurrence on Generative AI ➡ https://lnkd.in/ewFZb4kd 2. The inspiring closing speech by Margrethe Vestager, Executive Vice President of the European Commission, who emphasised the importance of #regulations and #competitionlaw to guarantee open markets that serve people. She pointed out that nothing has changed, despite the latest technological developments, the market behaviour of the stakeholders remains the same. She also highlighted the need for #globalcollaboration and partnerships with the ECNs. Other excellent participants and speakers of the event included; Dominique Guinard, Ana Sofia Rodrigues, Alex Stratakis, Sebastiano Toffaletti, Andras Toth, Inge Bernaets, Olivier Guersent who reiterated the urgency of #competitionenforcement.
