Leclaireur offers a unique retail experience where shoppers are treated as guests and receive personalized visits tailored to their interests. This haute-couture women’s boutique features an innovative design using over two tons of recycled materials, including wooden planks, cardboard, and aluminum print-plates. Despite the weight of these materials, the space feels surprisingly light due to the sculptured walls that define the interior. These recycled materials create a luxurious and tactile environment that surprises first-time visitors. The boutique breaks traditional retail norms by engaging visitors’ curiosity through unconventional product displays. Each designer piece is presented as a unique story within individual closets or alcoves, accompanied by various found objects and art pieces. As visitors move through the boutique, the interplay of wall textures and ambient light creates distinct atmospheres in different areas. The journey culminates in a back area where no products are immediately visible. Instead, the space, illuminated by sky domes and a video installation, hints at hidden elements that need to be discovered. This innovative approach transforms shopping into a personal and immersive experience, emphasizing the unveiling of products and the storytelling aspect of each item.

SC Steelframes BV is expanding and relocating its operations to a new facility in Houthalen-Helchteren to address the increasing demand for prefabricated modular construction. The project involves transforming a former concrete production site, blending existing structures with new developments. A centerpiece of this expansion is the 33-meter-high headquarters tower, built entirely from the company’s modular steel frames. This tower not only functions as an operational hub but also showcases SC-Steelframes’ construction capabilities, with its modular design allowing for a flexible and sustainable building approach. The concept behind the facility emphasizes integration with its surroundings. Positioned between industrial, residential, and natural zones, the site includes a green buffer zone that enhances biodiversity and incorporates advanced stormwater management systems. This green zone serves as a visual and ecological transition, linking the industrial activities with the neighboring natural and residential areas. Accessibility and traffic flow are carefully planned, with distinct routes for industrial traffic, emergency vehicles, and pedestrians, reducing congestion and ensuring safety. The strategic relocation of the main access point helps minimize disruption to nearby residential areas, further demonstrating the project’s attention to its broader context. Sustainability is at the core of the design, with features like rainwater harvesting systems, green roofs, and eco-friendly construction practices that reduce environmental impact while supporting local ecosystems. This expansion not only boosts SC Steelframes’ production capacity but also reflects a forward-thinking approach to industrial development, where innovation and environmental stewardship go hand in hand.

In Kortrijk, the future of the Van Marcke site is being reimagined through a pioneering collaboration between OMGEVING and UAUcollectiv. This project involves developing a master plan that creates a living, adaptive urban area. Utilizing the site’s unique topography and existing structures as opportunities, the “Space Identity” concept steers development towards sustainability, circularity, and preservation of identity. The plan aims to respect the site’s heritage while preparing it for future generations. The proposed dynamic city district emphasizes flexibility, moving away from fixed, short-term planning. This approach is responsive to social trends and community needs, based on the principle that urban development should be a continuous process. The spatial organization includes “urban rooms” and “public joints,” which are flexible spaces that evolve with community needs. These elements enhance the site’s integration with Kortrijk’s urban fabric, promoting greener, pedestrian-friendly pathways. Preservation and adaptive reuse of each building are crucial, with each structure receiving a “passport” outlining its historical significance and potential future uses. This approach ensures valuable architectural elements are retained and repurposed. The vision for the Van Marcke site aims to blend living, working, and recreational environments into a cohesive urban tapestry, fostering a sustainable, vibrant community that evolves with its inhabitants. The project exemplifies thoughtful urban planning, focusing on long-term adaptability and community integration. In collaboration with OMGEVING, Van Marcke

Our proposal for a new city hall of Grimbergen aims to create a high-quality building that combines architectural distinction, historical respect, and energy efficiency. It emphasizes inclusivity and equality, reflecting Grimbergen’s commitment to societal standards, spatial planning, and sustainability. The New Administrative Center (NAC) will be a collaborative workplace and community hub, fostering connections post-pandemic. Located on the former boys’ school site, adjacent to the historic board house, it involves demolishing Building 2000 to expand the school and develop high-quality public spaces. Building 2000 fails to meet fire standards, making renovation costly. A new building ensures continuous service, offers a flexible, sustainable design, and reduces long-term costs. The project creates welcoming public spaces, integrating school, town hall, and library functions to promote community spirit, with equal, high-quality workspaces in a harmonious structure.

The design proposal for this project is inspired by the unique identity of Bruges, combined with a vision for progressive, adaptable, and sustainable architecture. The essence of Bruges is captured through the spatial experience of its historic center, characterized by charming narrow alleys, cozy streets, and a series of squares connected by waterways and surrounded by historical buildings. These elements, based on specific proportions and sizes, have been distilled into the basic building block of the design. By reducing these sizes and proportions to a fundamental 3x3 meter grid, the project evokes the atmospheres of Bruges. This grid ensures that alleys, parking lots, terraces, and floors all adhere to a cohesive, human-scale measurement. This translation of Bruges’ measures into the project aligns with the earlier urban development vision of Jozef Stübbe, who emphasized the importance of street widths, building block sizes and shapes, house heights, alternating building lines, light, air, sun, and the integration of trees and public gardens. On the established 3x3 grid, a basic 12x12 meter building block is created. The central core of this block, designed for access to residential units, remains the only permanent feature, optimally serving as the conduit for the building’s utilities, with storage and sanitation facilities nearby. Surrounding this core, various configurations in sizes XS, S, M, and L can be arranged, offering flexibility in layout. The exterior grid, formed by columns, allows for customizable compartmentalization, with terraces, windows, and walls adaptable to different needs. This thoughtful integration of Bruges’ historical proportions with modern architectural principles results in a well-conceived, functional project that reflects the city’s identity while embracing sustainability and adaptability.
