🌍 Celebrating Diversity in Melbourne! Earlier this week our Melbourne team hosted a Diversity Lunch, bringing together a vibrant mix of cultures, backgrounds and perspectives. It was a great opportunity to connect, share stories and appreciate the richness that diversity brings to our workplace. 🥟🍛 🍗 For our main meal, we were spoiled with Polish pierogi, Latvian sausage rolls, Malaysian curry puffs, Vietnamese bahn mi, Indian pav bhaji and malai chicken tikka, Nepalese momo, Persian/Iranian potato salad, Arabic khobooz and shami kebab and Kentucky Fried Chicken. Dessert included Austrian Apple Strudel, English scones with jam and cream, the Misuraca take on an Italian tiramisu, New York cheesecake, and an Australian pavlova. 🍰 🍪 The annual diversity lunch is a favourite of our Melbourne staff, and food is such a fantastic way to share our cultures and history with our colleagues. 🚧 Project completion for ISPT in Sydney CBD! We're thrilled to announce the successful completion of our latest project in Sydney's bustling CBD, featuring both external and internal works. The external upgrades included a new steel and glass awning and paving enhancements, with comprehensive design elements incorporated to align with the heritage building next door. Internal improvements comprised the construction of a cold shell tenancy, new amenities, and general building upgrades to facilitate a future restaurant and kitchen. Additionally, we coordinated with Australia Post to align our works with their retail operations and post office box services seamlessly. Challenges like crane installation, proximity to a live tram line, and weather disruptions were expertly managed. We delivered on time and within budget to the client’s satisfaction. 📣 Project Spotlight: Kennedy Community Centre | Hawthorn Football Club The future-proofed electrical infrastructure allows the sports lights to be expanded to full broadcast lights in the future. The current design supports day and night training, with the ability to upgrade the lighting to broadcast-level lighting if the club requires it. This approach uses dedicated distribution boards and a module headframe that can be extended for additional light fittings. Installation of a new site-dedicated substation and main switchboard ensures there is enough electrical output for current and future needs. A WIN FOR NARRM NGARRGU | We’re thrilled that our work at narrm ngarrgu Library and Family Services has been recognised at the 2024 Master Builders Association of Victoria Excellence in Construction Awards, winning the Excellence in Fit-out Over $10m category.   Commissioned by the City of Melbourne, Buildcorp collaborated with Six Degrees Architects and delivered a three-storey library within the Munro Development, one of Australia’s most sustainable mixed-use community hubs. The facility features adult and children’s libraries, an art gallery, a creative “Maker Space” studio, a specialised family service centre and a large external terrace space overlooking the city skyline.   narrm ngarrgu, meaning ‘Melbourne Knowledge’ in Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung, is the City’s first new library in over a decade. It underscores the City’s commitment to First Nations engagement and community consultation, serving as a cornerstone of the Queen Victoria Market Precinct renewal.   We proudly supported the City’s initiatives by celebrating Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung language and showcasing artworks by First Nations artist Maree Clarke. The project also achieved over 13% Indigenous participation throughout its duration. Additionally, the library is the City’s first accredited Changing Places facility, equipped to assist visitors with severe disabilities.   Buildcorp is proud to have played a role in the success of this community-driven development. 📣 Project Spotlight: GMHBA Stadium | Geelong Football Club Stage 5 of the Kardinia Park Stadium Trust is completed and open to the public! The Geelong Sports Museum showcases the region's best sportspeople and moments, while the new Joel Selwood stand increases the stadium's capacity to 40,000 fans. We designed the upgrade to the sports lighting on the playing field, using a cutting-edge LED system that is suitable for broadcasting AFL and AFLW games. 📣 Project Spotlight: PolAir Bankstown We overcame a number of technical challenges when designing the NSW Police Aviation Support Branch in Bankstown. 🌡️ Implementing in-slab hydronic heating to achieve temperature control in maintenance bays. 💨 Manually operable recirculating HVAC systems to achieve temperature control in the maintenance bays. 🔥 Installed fire monitors and suppression systems to cover complex fire service requirements.
