Days Two and Three at the SelectUSA Investment Summit were just as jam packed as the others. Highlights for us included... A trip to the Australian Embassy in Washington, D.C. to get a briefing from Deputy Chief of Mission Paul Myler and Australian Trade and Investment Commission (Austrade) head Paul Burfield. (Plus, coffee at nearby Australian cafe Bluestone!) A visit to the Eisenhower Executive Office Building to discuss innovation, clean tech, and critical minerals with a team from the National Security Council, The White House. Watching our Australian delegates Jekaterina Viktorova and Zachary Dowse participate in, then win, the SelectUSA pitch contest! (Syenta has a manufacturing product that accelerates and enables the production of high-performance semiconductor chips.) Selfie-time! Our delegate Maree Beare with SGR! A fantastic wrap-up reception at the residence of Ambassador Christine Elder, our U.S. consul general in Sydney, who just happened to be in D.C. at this time - and graciously offered to host us. And many other sidebar sessions and conversations and networking opportunities. Including Judy Brown as a featured speaker on an excellent critical minerals panel. But just like that, it's a wrap! The 2024 edition of the SelectUSA Investment Summit has closed - breaking all records for attendance. It's been great fun working with - and many thanks go to - my colleague Georgie Harrowell, who did a great job keeping the trains on track. Until next year!

Great first (official) day at the SelectUSA Investment Summit 2024! I am so privileged and pleased to be part of this delegation, a cross-section of excellent, innovative companies from Australia and New Zealand. (And Fiji!) Highlights included engagement for critical minerals companies with Deputy Secretary of Commerce Don Graves, Deputy Secretary of Energy David Turk, and U.S. Ex-Im President and Chair Reta Jo Lewis, all who noted the importance of working constructively and cooperatively with Australia on supply chain resilience. Our delegation also met with Under Secretary of Commerce for International Trade Marisa Lago, who underscored ITA's role in facilitating foreign direct investment (FDI) in the U.S. We look forward to seeing these companies further grow and succeed! Perth U.S. Consul General Siriana Nair with Jacobs hosted a recent event where business and industry leaders addressed the challenges and opportunities facing Australia’s resources sector, specifically in terms of decarbonization. Discussions focused on innovative delivery models, supporting the global decarbonization effort and how corporations can foster international cooperation. Despite the inherent complexities, the Australian mining industry aims to achieve net zero emissions by 2050 which requires de-risking critical technologies and adapting operations. Jacobs CEO, Bob Pragada spoke about the solutions Jacobs provides to their clients in addressing decarbonization challenges and climate readiness. He also shared Jacobs commitment to achieve net zero emissions by 2040. We extend our gratitude to our guests from BHP, Rio Tinto and Fortescue who attended the event. The collective collaboration is crucial as we all strive towards a more sustainable future. #Miningperth #Resources #Decarbonization #Sustainability #ClimateAction #Innovation #Collaboration Sara Adly Eva Wood Beau Waters Sam Butler Steve Knode Rana Nusheiwat Oliver B.

#PacificIslandCountries (#PICs), disadvantaged by their significant physical distance from major economic players, face a range of challenges competing for #internationalbusiness and #investment—including from the United States. In support of President Biden’s desire to strengthen and deepen our partnership with nations across the #IndoPacific, the U.S. Department of Commerce’s International Trade Administration (ITA) is working to bridge the gap, raising awareness among American companies about the potential to export their high-quality goods and services and invest in these markets. Last week, ITA led 20 U.S. business executives on a trip to participate in the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Pacific #Infrastructure Business Opportunities Seminar, held from May 23-24 in Nadi, #Fiji. U.S. participants had an opportunity to meet with Pacific Island officials to identify ways that their business solutions and technologies can support the development of the PICs, especially in key sectors, including #seaports, #airports, #energy, #healthcare, #telecommunications, water/#wastewater, and more. If you are an American company that wants to explore business and investment opportunities in the PICs, then contact us to learn more! Great to celebrate Hawaiian Airlines’ 20 years of flying between Honolulu and Sydney! Also great to chat with Hawaiian Airlines’ flight crew that recently flew into Sydney including a Captain that has been flying the route for 20 years, and his First Officer. Hawaii is the Australian traveler’s second most popular U.S. destination with 270,000 Aussies holidaying in Hawaii each year. Looking forward to more Australians traveling to Hawaii on Hawaiian Airlines! Monique Roos
