Welcome back for another insight into the Hancock & Rowe higher retention, less churn process! Part three; UX/ UI design This is the foundation of our design and development work with you. By bringing your end-user to the centre of the decision-making process, we can create customised experiences and interfaces specific to your customers. After all, a lack of consideration for the user experience or poorly thought out, lacklustre products will contribute to reduced engagement and retention of users. And who wants that? In order for your business or product sales to grow, you need a satisfied customer/user base who will return to use your product. For many products out there, this isn’t the case. For example, the product that was created to address a specific problem does so, but is so difficult to understand and operate that the user is turned off as soon as they have signed in. That is why well-considered UX/UI design is key to any product when looking to develop a product that encourages longevity and loyalty from your customer-base. Well thought out user journeys and onboarding as part of your UX design strategy, complimented with brand ownable UI that reinforces the actions and journeys you want the user to take, makes a product much easier to understand from day one. Should UX and UI design always go hand-in-hand? If your end goal is to gain and retain customers, then yes. ❌ UI design doesn’t work without solid UX considerations because it becomes an aesthetic showcase that only considers pixels, rather than concentrating on the users interacting with the design. ❌ UX design without carefully crafted UI produces products that can work, but lack any kind of emotional connection or feeling. They aren’t a joy to use or provoke a sense of confidence in the job they do. How do we approach UX/UI design to help retention? We: ▫️ Listen to the research to decide the strategy for the overall experience ▫️ Fail fast using wireframes to test journeys, information hierarchy and language ▫️ Keep interfaces and journeys as simple as possible for quick understanding ▫️ Create a UI that is independent and accessible, whilst remaining recognisable as your brand ▫️ Lean on proven design patterns to ensure success ▫️ Make space to innovate once a foundation / Minimal Viable Product has been created. By following step three of our process we can make sure that your product is suited to your customers’ specific needs - meaning more retention and less churn.
