𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝘆𝗼𝘂 𝗻𝗲𝗲𝗱 𝘁𝗼 𝗱𝗼: ✅ Renew your accreditation before it expires. It's recommended to apply at least six weeks beforehand for faster processing. ✅ Provide evidence to show your business is legitimate, including financial records, proof of employee training, and how you assist migrant workers in settling in. ✅ Choose the right accreditation type based on your business needs (standard, high-volume, etc.). Getting ready and uploading all relevant evidence upfront helps speed up your application. 𝗕𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗳𝗶𝘁𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗲𝘄𝗶𝗻𝗴: ✅ Keep hiring new migrant workers with AEWVs. ✅ Support existing migrant workers with visa applications. ✅ Access certain other work visas for migrant employees. 𝗠𝗶𝘀𝘀𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗱𝗲𝗮𝗱𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲? You can still employ existing migrant workers on their current visas. Procedural fairness is absolutely critical. It is not just about 'best practice', this article is an excellent example as to why your HR team will talk to the importance of consultation, communication and for employees to able provide input (from their point of view). Two points employers should note if a restructure of their business could affect Accredited Employer Work Visa (AEWV) employees:➡️ 𝟭. 𝗔 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗰𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗿𝗶𝗴𝗴𝗲𝗿 𝗺𝗮𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗼𝗿𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗼𝗯𝗹𝗶𝗴𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻𝘀. Employers who renewed or updated their Immigration New Zealand (INZ) accreditation on or after 7 April 2024 are required to inform INZ within 10 working days if an AEWV employee with more than a month left on their visa leaves their employment (whether by way of a resignation or dismissal).  𝟮. 𝗔𝗘𝗪𝗩 𝗲𝗺𝗽𝗹𝗼𝘆𝗲𝗲𝘀 𝗺𝗮𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗾𝘂𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻 𝘂𝗽𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝘃𝗶𝘀𝗮 𝗯𝗲𝗳𝗼𝗿𝗲 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸𝗽𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗻𝗴𝗲 𝗰𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗰𝗰𝘂𝗿. AEWV employees’ visa conditions will ordinarily include that they may only work for a particular employer in a particular named role, and some employees may also have visa conditions relating to work location and/or remuneration. An employee’s visa conditions can only be changed by way of an application to INZ, which can take several weeks or even months to be processed and in certain cases may not be approved. Employers who employ a migrant worker in breach of that migrant worker’s visa conditions could face fines, and their current or future accreditation may be affected.
