8️⃣6️⃣📈 We surveyed the Australian Data & AI ecosystem late last year and saw 86% of respondents answering their core data assets were in ‘acceptable’ state of worse! Let that sink in, to understand what that means for data-driven reporting, BI, and AI. It has a few logical implications: 1️⃣After pulling a dataset from a database data needs significant further labour intensive curation for any meaningful business or artificial intelligence reducing both ROI and time to value for Data & AI. 2️⃣Organisations will revert back to biased decision making, either by using personal experience from leaders, or based on generic market insights from management consultants often based on terrifying assumptions You start seeing why I personally moved from management consulting to data consulting? In November last year, the College of Organisational Psychologists, APS ran its first Incubator event, in which we heard presentations and case studies from Emily Russo, Ph.D, Andrew Baird (ANZ) and Stuart Bashford (Deloitte) on the topic of how to make workplaces more inclusive for neurodivergent employees. This was followed by a series of roundtable discussions among the attending College members. Based on these insights, Poppy Orr and I have written a short article for Australian Psychological Society (APS) Insights summarising some practical insights for employers. This is very much the tip of the iceberg, so we have included links to other resources and research articles. Our five tips include: 1. Promote education and awareness 2. Adapt recruitment systems for neurodivergent candidates 3. Make flexible adjustments to workplace policies, practices and systems 4. Create a supportive social environment for neurodivergent employees 5. Develop leader capabilities to work with neurodivergent employees We hope that you find this article useful, and we would like to thank all involved in the Incubator event for their invaluable insights that helped to shape this thought piece.
