About
Learning is actually fun!
And when you can have your team learning as one, WOW!, it becomes something else!
As inherently social creatures, we lean towards learning with and from others, which is why so many people prefer face to face training rather than elearning. (Hey! I love elearning too, it just has its place 😉)
I love working with teams to help them learn how to learn and grow together - and truly become a successful, high performing team.

What do you do if you face roadblocks while acquiring new skills?
Take ownership of your skill development. If the hurdles you are experiencing are due to a lack of opportunity, then there is nothing that says you can't move your development to another track! What I mean is that it is not all about the workplace. You can find opportunities to develop your skills in other places, such as community groups and associations, i.e. sports groups, parent teacher associations and so on. This will not only give you the confidence to better tackle some of the hurdles in your workplace, but you're giving back to your community at the same time.

You're in a new workplace. How can you develop self-awareness?
Keep a learning journal, giving you the opportunity to note not just what you have been learning about your new role, but what you have felt and experienced while learning. Reflecting on your notes allow you to see how you have grown and give you the opportunity to think back on how you could have dealt with situations differently now that you have hindsight. Also, be open to feedback, from all levels. You don't have to take it all on, but it builds trust with your new peers, and may give you insights to yourself that you were oblivious to previously.
