I have enjoyed leading organisational transformation such as building in-house content and creative teams, introducing new capabilities and ways of working such as Customer Experience Design, real time Content Studios or centralised Insights & Analytics.
A proud career achievement was the bold renaming of the Australian Open and sending a message to the world declaring “Australia is Open” following the catastrophic bushfires of 2020. We painted the new name on Rod Laver Arena during the 2020 finals and changed every sign and branding on digital channels reaching millions of households worldwide.

I find it interesting that at a time when digital media is being implanted into mainstream media that Seven Group would do this. Are we not moving to an addressable media view. Are we isolating the legacy TV business? For focus? Realistically it needs support not separation. Perhaps there will be a sale with a trimmed down Seven Network. I am tipping the next few financial year is going to be tough for the Group.... #media #BusinessStrategy #equityfunds #digital

Why are we still putting TV ads in short-form video channels? Just over the weekend, I saw multiple large Australian brands (with well-regarded large agencies) running full-length 30-second TV spots in landscape 16:9 format in channels like YouTube Shorts. It’s surprising how many brands still repurpose TV ads for social media without tailoring them to the platform. It stands out like a sore thumb and not in a good way. With Kantar reporting a 40% increase in video content volume since 2020, it's enough to roll the same asset out over multiple channels (although has it ever been?). I know the challenges brands face with time, resources and budgets traditionally when needed to create assets fit-for-channel - saw them myself every day for five years. But currently, we aren't even giving ourselves a chance to compete in those platforms, it's like throwing media investment down the drain. To truly engage, your content needs to be designed specifically for those channels. A no-brainer I know. A few evergreen and simple tips when cutting down longer-form assets: 🎯 Focus on Attention-Grabbing Starts: Capture interest within the first few seconds. 📱 Optimize for Mobile: Most users view social media on mobile devices, so vertical or square formats work best. 🎥 Keep It Short and Sweet: Social media thrives on concise, impactful messaging. I love the conversation about creativity pushing boundaries in the advertising industry, sometimes it's more important to get the basics right. Let’s start designing for the platform, not adapting from another.
