Here's how you can effectively guide teams through conflicts with executive coaching.
How ‘far away’ are you all from each other? I find when teams think they know each other well, but don’t, they are effectively far away from each other. It’s hard to see clearly at that distance and it’s easy to make unhelpful assumptions. Facilitate stories or assessments like Working Genius to bring the team closer to each other. Once you understand each other you are less likely to assume and more likely to see things as they really are. I find this very helpful for teams to achieve breakthrough around conflict and trust.

Here's how you can effectively communicate your delegation needs to your team members.
Clarity starts with who. When I coach leaders I’m always surprised how often they’ve decided on someone to delegate to simply because it’s the easy option, it would be awkward to pick someone else or they just hadn’t thought about it! Use Patrick Lencioni’s ideal team player traits: humble, hungry, people smart. Who in your team displays these traits? Who struggles with one or more of these? Delegation is more likely to be successful if you delegate to a person who works with humility, is driven to go above and beyond and has the people smarts or emotional intelligence to read the room.

Here's how you can enhance your leadership skills as an educational leader through continuing education.
Modeling is vital in leadership. Simply put, educational leaders need to model a love of learning. It doesn’t matter how you do it, treat yourself with the same advice you’d give to students. Be curious, push yourself out of your comfort zone. A great book to read is Adam Grant’s Think Again. Challenge your own assumptions and worldviews. This won’t happen accidentally, it must be done intentionally and consistently.

Here's how you can navigate the common challenges of receiving feedback as an executive.
I have some bad news for you... You are probably your own worst enemy. When I coach executives who have received difficult feedback, I always remind them their body doesn't realize this is just some 'constructive feedback'! Instead, our bodies often act like a hungry lion has just spotted us from one meter away and is licking its lips, breathing through its nostrils and growling at us. In my opinion, this is the key factor at play around feedback. It's more than being open or planning not to react. The truth is, if there was a lion there you wouldn't be able to stop your body from getting you to safety. That's what you're up against. So learn to understand and manage your body's reaction. Nail this and you'll be on your way.

Here's how you can establish trust and credibility when facilitating large group discussions as an executive.
Building rapport is about vulberability. Great leaders don’t just lead with vulnerability, they give others the permission to be vulnerable. And they protect the safety of the space. My favourite exercise with a large group is Patrick Lencioni’s Personal Histories exercise. Give everyone a chance to share something vulnerable that’s pretty safe. That’s why Lencioni’s question about a challenge or difficulty you faced as a child is genius. It’s separate enough from the board room that most people will give vulnerability a go when answering that question. Once the lid’s off then vulnerability about current issues or behaviours is possible.

What do you do if you excel in managing deadlines and want to maximize your career growth opportunities?
You are the secret ingredient. I mean, to be honest, in the right context all of us are ‘that’ secret ingredient. However, someone who excels in hitting deadlines is the secret ingredient for any team or project that is in the ‘must-not-fail’ category. As a result, avoid opportunities that are low stakes. You should look for teams and projects that must succeed. Inject yourself there and people will take notice. As a coach I am always advising leaders to look out for people like you! That’s because just adding you to a team or project can turn the whole thing around and/or guarantee success.

There was a time when I couldn't understand my emotional reactions. That was until I learnt about a theory.. Polyvagal theory, coined by Stephen Porges, explains how our nervous system responds to stress and safety through three states: shutdown, fight or flight, and social engagement. Understanding this theory has helped me learn more about myself, and it’s been a really healing process. The Polyvagal Theory simplified: 🔴 RED (Dorsal-Vagal): I can't handle this. Shut down mode. 🟡 YELLOW (Sympathetic): I’m in danger. Fight or flight. 🟢 GREEN (Ventral-Vagal): I feel at ease. Connected and social. Recognizing my nervous system's state has been healing. By learning to identify these states, I've been able to address patterns in my behavior and relationships. Mastin K.'s “Reclaim your Nervous System” suggests asking: 1. Where do you feel this state in your body? 2. How do you feel in this state? 3. How does the world feel in this state? Ask yourself the above three questions for each of the states and you will begin to become familiar with them in your own body. Once I became aware of my nervous system and the shifts it was making, I was able to name what was happening and use the tools I had handy to help me find my way back into a ventral-vagal state. I learnt that I wasn’t completely losing my mind and out of control, but something had simply triggered my nervous system to change states. Learning about your nervous system is so powerful and I can’t recommend it enough. Do you have any books you would suggest reading on Polyvagal theory? Credit to Justine Grosso for the epic visual. #polyvagaltheory #nervoussystem #vagusnerve #traumawork

Vocal exercises alone will not create lasting change with your voice 🎙 Have you ever been in situation where intellectually you know what you need to do (and even how to do it), but you still don't do it? e.g. I need to run 5 kms each day, eat more vegetables, start my YouTube channel, drink more water, write that book, go for that promotion, have that vulnerable conversation....fill in the blank. Maybe you are good at distracting yourself, finding excuses, blaming others or allowing yourself to be busy doing other (easier) things. So what's going on here (because we can all relate)? We're bumping up against our shadow, the parts of ourselves that we perceive to be too light or too dark to be acceptable in the world. Everyone has a shadow-self and it's running your life whether you're aware of it or not, until you begin to integrate it. This includes your voice, your vocal habits, how you express yourself and what you allow your voice to become. Your current vocal habits are reflecting what you believe is going to keep you safe in the world. It may not make logical sense because these habits are formed in early childhood. I can give you all vocal exercises in the world to build greater strength, agility, power, freedom and expression in your voice. I can show you how to do them and you can feel / hear the difference for yourself... BUT if unconsciously this "new voice" is a threat to your ego (survival self), you won't allow it. I literally had a conversation yesterday with a client who has all the vocal exercises she needs and when she puts them into practice her voice opens up in a powerful way. BUT by her own admission, she wants this voice but also fears it. So she doesn't practice the exercises unless I'm there to encourage her. This is her bumping up against her shadow...we want it but we also fear it. Unless you get to the root of this and begin to integrate this unconscious emotional piece, you will struggle to create lasting change, you'll hit a plateau or just go back to your old "safe" habits. Are you ready to break free for good and reclaim your true powerful voice? I'd love to help you. DM me for more information or schedule a 60 mins Reclaim Your Voice coaching session and let me awaken you to the potential in you and your voice right now. https://lnkd.in/ePCpecZh #publicspeaking #voicecoaching #voicetraining #speakertrainer #speakercoach #womeninbusiness

HOW TO THRIVE IN A RAPIDLY CHANGING WORLD https://lnkd.in/gQTR-t5a Can we all agree that rules of the game have changed? How we define life, work and success has moved at lightening speed - not just from 20 years ago, but even from just 6 months ago. Our lives are in constant flux, making it increasingly hard to keep up, never mind stay ahead of the game. Our time is a precious currency. Do you ask yourself: 1. How can I actually thrive in a world like this? 2. Who can help me get back in the driver's seat, in control of where I'm going? 3. Who can help me go faster? 18 months ago when I stepped off the corporate wheel, I asked myself these 3 questions daily across all aspects of my journey - as a mum, as a wife, as a friend and as a practitioner in Marketing and Comms. Here's how I did it. I joined the global self-education industry and worked with Mastermind in the USA, run by Dean Graziosi and Tony Robbins. Between them, they have over 73 years of staying ahead of the game at work and at home. I've been with them ever since - they've helped me find my path and given me a blueprint to 'thrive'. I came across this video where my friend and mentor Dean Graziosi gives his compelling answer to this question and thought I'd share it with you. Have a listen. https://lnkd.in/gQTR-t5a If you're keen to find out more about getting to grips with your own game, DM me 'GAMECHANGER'. #TheGameHasChangedBonus

Amplio Foundations is now up on the Amplio System Visual. You can see the additions as they go up on this LinkedIn page https://lnkd.in/gg2ma87M The latest are at the top. Amplio Foundations are particularly important because they enable us to go beyond empiricism, immutability, following until you understand and not getting the information you need when you need it. Knowledge work has a well defined behavior for the most part. It is important to understand what it is. Amplio believes in taking a scientific and engineering approach. It has been well established that people learn better when a combination of theory and practices are present. We call the combination of systems thinking, first principles and factors for effective value streams the "physics of flow" we can create fit for purpose approaches. Systems thinking Systems are more about the relationships between the components than the components themselves. Most errors are due to the system. Systems must be managed. First principles of knowledge work. First principles of knowledge work are like the laws of what makes knowledge work efficient. First principles stand on their own. They are not defined but are discovered through observation and relentless evaluation. Violating them has consequences, typically creating waste and lost opportunities. They can be used to provide guidance as to what individuals, teams, and organizations should do or avoid. Those listed are Amplio’s best discernment of the most useful first principles. Suggestions requested. They are based on Eli Goldratt’s theory of inherent simplicity, which suggests, "If we dive deep enough, we’ll find that there are very few elements at the base—the root causes—which, through cause-and-effect connections are governing the whole system.” Deming- “Experience without theory is expensive.” Factors for effective value streams These are based on the aforementioned first principles. Improving them improves our workflows. What we can do with these foundations. Many teams and organizations struggle with Agile because they have to adapt to the approach they are taking. It should be the other way around. See Why we need adaptive frameworks for why this is so important. Doing that requires ensuring the approach still addresses the physics of flow. #Amplio #Agile
