About
With over 25 years of experience in the tech industry, now I help early-stage startups and startup-like teams in larger organisations succeed in their ventures. As a General Partner at M8 Ventures, I invest in and advise promising early-stage tech startups from Australia and New Zealand.
I care deeply about developing and supporting entrepreneurship skills in diverse and underrepresented groups, such as women, LGBTQI , refugees and migrants and young people.
I also co-host a radio show and podcast, "The Advisory Board", on Disrupt Radio and your favourite podcast app, where we provide advice and support for people working in startups who write in anonymously with their problems and questions.
I frequently speak at events and in the media as a tech startup and technology industry expert, sharing my knowledge and perspectives on topics such as lean startup, product strategy, growth marketing, and capital raising.

Over an intense weekend of ideation and collaboration, 150 people including senior public service leaders and subject-matter experts formed teams with volunteer experts from the tech and social impact industries to draft solutions to pressing problems in Australian innovation and government delivery of services. Two of the ten initiatives formulated at Policyhack went on to be funded and implemented.

At the Regional AsiaPac competitions, teams of students and mentors from high schools and universities from across Asia and the Pacific build and compete with robots that perform in a competitive but cooperative format.
Students learn valuable life skills like teamwork, collaboration, public speaking, technical science and engineering skills, and 'Gracious Professionalism'.
Helping them are their adult mentors including industry engineers, school teachers, university lecturers, university students, FIRST alumni and others. These mentors use their experience to teach, guide and shape the students through the FIRST Robotics Competition program.
For several years it's been my honour and privilege to serve as a judge for both of the highest individual awards on offer in FIRST, the Chairman's Award and Dean's List Award. Winners of these awards and winners of the team awards gain entry into the world championships held each year in the US. -

As a resident of the northern suburbs of Sydney and a tech industry leader it's my mission to help policy makers, government leaders and the broader general public understand that Australia's tech startup ecosystem extends across the Sydney Harbour Bridge into the north shore of the city and that we have great opportunities to explore in developing the tech ecosystem in our commercial and light industrial areas on the north shore. In addition to serving on the advisory board I coach and judge pitch competitions and provide one-on-one exec coaching for NSIN members.
