We’ve laid the foundations for a greener future. 🏗️ Construction of our Lilydale food waste to energy facility is off to a great start and when complete will: 🥑 Divert organic waste from landfill ⚡ Produce renewable energy 😶🌫️ Reduce emissions to meet net zero carbon targets We’ve laid the foundations, planted over 1,600 trees and started to build digester tanks – that’s where the magic happens! They process commercial food waste into renewable energy using a natural process called ‘anaerobic digestion’, which is similar to the way a human body breaks down food – we don’t use incineration or gasifiers to process the waste. This is our second food waste to energy facility, our first has been successfully operating in Wollert since 2017. Since then, the award-winning Wollert facility has processed 178,000 tonnes of food waste and produced approximately 35,000 MWh of renewable electricity. While many of us are fortunate enough to have access to clean water and soap, millions worldwide still face barriers to this simple yet life-saving practice. At WaterAid, we're working to ensure that communities have access to clean water and proper sanitation, especially in healthcare settings where it matters most. 🧼 Learn more about our work and how you can help make a difference: https://lnkd.in/g-Q5QpfN #GlobalHandwashingDay #CleanHands #WaterAidAustralia #Healthcare #Sanitation #WASH #WaterForAll

Walk for Water week kicks off today! 💧💧💧 703 million people in the world – almost 1 in 10 – do not have clean water close to home. Every day, women and children walk long distances to collect water for their families. Sometimes the water is dirty, carrying water borne diseases and leading to sickness in their community. This week, staff from Yarra Valley Water and across the water sector are coming together to support @WaterAid Australia's vital work - to provide clean water and accessible toilets for everyone, everywhere. Join us as we walk, run, ride or even dance for water. 💧 Get involved and explore WaterAid Australia’s life changing work and make a donation to support clean water for all. https://lnkd.in/gFYmmWcy #fundraising #safewater #cleanwater #sdg6 #WalkforWater #WaterAid #SustainabilityGoals, #CleanWater, #Sanitation, #WaterAccess, #GlobalGoals, #2030Agenda, #SustainableDevelopment, #UNGoals
