At Yara, we believe in the power of diversity. In 2022, Yara launched the Women in Agronomy program and since then, the program has grown from a small pilot to a global program with 373 participants. The program offers a valuable platform for women in Yara to develop their skills, connect with colleagues, and advance their careers in agriculture. Rural women make up of nearly half (43%) of the global agricultural workforce and are the backbone of agriculture industries. They perform the bulk of unpaid care and domestic work within families and ensuring food security and nutrition for communities. Yet, rural women face significant discrimination in land and livestock ownership, equal pay, participation in decision making and access to resources, credit and market. The Women in Agronomy program seeks to empower its participants, giving them the tools and a supportive environment to overcome obstacles.
