We'd like to thank Wesley College, Perth for inviting our Director, Alex Jenkins, to present on how artificial intelligence will reshape the educational landscape. In his presentation, titled “AI & Our Children,” he discussed how generative artificial intelligence offers exciting opportunities to enhance children's learning while empowering teachers. Alex envisions a future where artificial intelligence acts as an educational assistant to support teachers. He believes that “this technology will empower teachers to do what they do best and more,” while emphasising that artificial intelligence cannot replace the human connection between students and educators in schools and learning environments. We’re optimistic about a collaborative future where technology complements the pivotal role of teachers and educators, enriching the learning experience for current and future generations of students! Two weeks ago, WADSIH partnered with the CEDA - Committee for Economic Development of Australia to explore how the Australian government can support businesses and industries in adopting #artificial #intelligence (AI) safely and responsibly. The session included thought leaders, business owners, and academics, providing attendees with a wide range of perspectives. The session's goal was to strategize effective AI implementation across various economic sectors to promote Western Australia’s economic growth and prosperity. Importantly, discussions focused on developing clear regulatory frameworks for the ethical and responsible use of AI. The panel also addressed how Western Australia's universities and research organisations can translate their research into practical applications, enhancing capability building and commercialisation. WADSIH is proud to be a foundation between government, academia, and industry to facilitate these important conversations to drive an AI-powered future in Western Australia. The inaugural Curtin AI in Research Forum was a resounding success 🎉 We had a fantastic turnout with Curtin University researchers from various disciplines eager to stay abreast on the latest AI advancements. The forum covered the work of researchers on: 📄 Using multi-modal vision models to analyse data from paper forms 🌏 Leveraging machine learning to translate Indigenous Australian languages 🎨 Combining generative AI, like StableDiffusion, with ControlNet to create synthetic data WADSIH is proud to be a conduit for innovation, and we’re delighted to witness the amazing potential of #artificial #intelligence across various scientific domains.
