We’re working with councils and businesses in New South Wales to increase the amount of glass we recycle so that we can pack more of it into new bottles and jars. Belinda shares how recycling goes from your home to our recycling facility in Alexandria to our glass manufacturing facility in Penrith.

About us
We are powering the circular economy, closing the loop between packaging, remanufacturing, recycling and logistics. Over 75 years, we've grown to 7,000 employees and 150 global operations - predominately in Australia and New Zealand - but remain an Australian, family owned company. Since the beginning we’ve transformed recycling into new products. Today, we're remanufacturing recycling into new packaging which is recyclable and made from up to 100% recycled content. Beyond packaging, we're making our customers' iconic brands a success through integrated solutions for packaging supplies, point of sale displays, logistics and recycling.

CDS Vic is helping to reduce litter and boost the circular economy. 20 millions containers have been returned to our Mildura depot, putting almost $2 million back into the pockets of locals. A big thank you to Minister Steve Dimopoulos for visiting the site and meeting the team.

We had the pleasure of hosting representatives from Brisbane City Council for a tour of our recycling facility on Gibson Island and cardboard box factory in Hemmant. We’re proud to partner with BCC to recycle material from Brisbane residents’ kerbside bins and turn it back into new packaging for iconic Queensland food and beverage brands.

We were pleased to support Foodbank Victoria, Australia’s largest food relief organisation, and Bega Group's Vegemite by supplying 436,000 150g Vegemite jars to communities facing food insecurity. Being glass, the jars can be easily recycled through household kerbside recycling bins to be make back into new glass packaging. We proudly make these jars at our glass manufacturing facility in Spotswood, Melbourne. Donations like this are one way we're helping to address food insecurity and hunger—both aims of #WorldFoodDay.

The biggest risk to our recycling facilities are lithium battery fires. Around 30 battery-related fires happen every day at waste and resource recovery facilities across Australia, according to the Australian Council of Recycling. While we do everything we can to mitigate against the potential for fires, we need the community to help us, and genuine Extended Producer Responsibility, to tackle this issue. Never put any batteries in a bin. Find your closest drop off location: https://lnkd.in/gQ-uRWNd
