Help us end the cycle of homelessness for all Australians.

About us

The Vinnies CEO Sleepout is a one-night event held on one of the longest and coldest nights of the year. Hundreds of CEOs, business owners as well as community and government leaders sleep outdoors to support the many Australians who are experiencing homelessness and people at risk of homelessness. Each CEO Sleepout participant commits to raising a minimum amount of funds to help Vinnies provide essential services to the people who need them. The St Vincent de Paul Society National Council of Australia has a media officer who takes media enquiries on all issues of national significance. Please call 0475 068 209 or email [email protected] for more information.

Our Far North Queensland Diocese recently launched their Ozanam Leadership Program (OLP). OLP has been successfully run all across Queensland, offering a wonderful opportunity for youth to develop key leadership and life skills. The OLP launch was ushered in with a visit from Veronica Innes, Diocesan President, and Dennis Innes, Bailey, who gave a motivational speech around the goals, dreams, and meaningful works of the Society. The program is underway with ten of our OLP youth travelling to Emu Gully Retreat, pushing them physically and mentally to hone their leadership skills in a team environment.

Vinnies shops have seen an increase in demand for winter gear very early in the season, as well as a significant drop in the number of donations. "We are after good quality, clean knit and jackets, both through mens and ladies. Warm clean blankets as well," said Meagan Moffat, Store Manager in South Tamworth, in an interview with Seven Network.   You can drop off donations at Vinnies shops during business hours. The rising costs of energy is an area of great concern for the St Vincent de Paul Society and the impact it has on people living on low incomes. Each year we work with thousands of Australians who are struggling to make ends meet. They are faced with decisions such as which bill is the most urgent to pay and which they can leave for another month.  🌿 Since 2008, St Vincent de Paul Society has been reporting and analysing the rising costs of energy and has developed practical solutions while advocating for positive changes to be implemented by government, industry and energy market institutions. 🌱 St Vincent de Paul Society undertakes research into issues that have the potential to impact the lives of low-income people and families in our community. Many people think it is easier to offer help to people in need than to work to change the systems keeping people powerless and in disadvantage. But it takes both justice and charity to truly help all people in need. 🌿🌿 Following the words of St Vincent de Paul, 'There is no Charity without Justice' the Society advocates strongly for people left behind, who are excluded from our broader community. Advocacy is not about politics, but human rights. By advocating, we help address the root causes of injustice and break the cycle of disadvantage. 🌿🌿 Like, repost and comment to support #Advocacy for people left behind. From Crisis to Compassion - our Massive Fundraising effort for Vinnies Victoria. 2024 was one of the toughest years we can remember. With interest rates remaining stubbornly high, and Australia in the grip of a cost-of-living crisis, there was less money than ever to go around. With so many Aussies doing it tough, Vinnies Victoria were struggling to raise the funds they needed. And the worst part – these same factors were driving even more people into homelessness.   So we set out to help. In 2023, we raised just over $120,000. With the nights getting colder and so many people struggling, we knew we had to raise even more. It was up to us to make a difference.   This year, the whole team at Reventon got involved, jumping on the phones, selling raffle tickets, getting people to Lead With Kindness, doing everything they could to raise every dollar possible to help those most in need.   This year’s campaign was full of highlights: - 🏠 Breaking ground on our Brick by Brick project - 🎉 Running our 4th Lead With Kindness at Le Ciel Events - 🤝 Visiting Vinnies Ozanam House and meeting some inspiring former residents - 🛌 And of course the Vinnies CEO Sleepout itself.   Despite all the challenges, We're thrilled to announce that we were able to raise $137,447, smashing our fundraising target! That’s enough to provide: - 🍽 Almost 44,000 meals - 🛏 1,145 safe places to sleep - 🏘Crisis accommodation for almost 700 families fleeing domestic violence - And so much more. We want to thank everyone who donated, got involved, or spread the word. It was only because of your generosity that any of this was possible. So thank you to everyone - we’re going to make such a massive difference. We’re already planning something extra special for our 2025 campaign, so stay tuned for further details. And again, from all of us, thank you.
