We’re thrilled to share that the City of Unley has been announced as a finalist in the International Association for Public Participation (IAP2) Australasia Core Values Awards 2024 in the Environment category for our Shaping Unley Project – Building Greener Neighbourhoods Together. This achievement wouldn’t have been possible without the contribution of our passionate community, our dedicated employees, and the commitment and support of our Council and the Granicus Australia / New Zealand engagement team. We wish all the finalists in these coveted awards good luck, and know that regardless of the outcome, we’ve already won by working with our community to build a greener, leafier Unley for generations to come. Our Community Bus is looking for volunteers! It caters for passengers of all ages - anyone disadvantaged in their transport needs. Perhaps you don’t own a car, or have found yourself without transport. You can register for the Community Bus to visit destinations across Unley to shop, get to a medical appointment, catch up with friends, or visit the library or one of our community centres. The service is supported by a team of wonderful volunteers, who are appreciated by our passengers. We’re currently recruiting for both Helper and Driver roles. Volunteer Steve says: ‘Volunteering has a positive impact and allows me to meet people I normally wouldn’t - it’s a great way to get to know your community better. Everyone who accesses the service is grateful for the help we offer.’ If you’d like to consider volunteering with the Community Bus program, please contact our friendly coordinator to find out more. Just call 8372 5131 or visit the City of Unley website and search ‘Community Bus’. We’d love to hear from you!
