With the Olympics now here, we sat down with our very own Tanya Harding – four-time Olympic Medalist and Business Resilience Manager at Transurban. 🥎 The youngest of five children, I grew up in a family obsessed with sports! My dad was a coach, my mum managed multiple teams, and my sisters and brother played a variety of sports. Though I played a lot of netball and loved to swim, I gravitated towards softball – I loved the challenge and the variety of skills needed. From the age of six I was out on the field, back when softball wasn’t even part of the Olympic Program. I remember watching the Australian athletes at the Olympics and only dreaming of being able to compete on the world stage.  In my late teens, softball was voted into the Olympic Games as a female counterpart to baseball, to ensure gender equity in the Olympic movement. I played my first World Championship as a junior in Adelaide in 1990, before making it to the Olympics for the very first time in Atlanta in 1996. The adrenaline and excitement was indescribable – I had finally made it! Over the next decade, I won a silver and three bronze medals, and in 2022 I was inducted into the Australian Sports Hall of Fame. I was lucky enough to travel to the US, Japan, New Zealand, Italy, Greece, China and more, until settling down in Queensland and moving on to the next phase of my journey – a turn I never saw coming – a career in transport! I started as a Traffic Control Room Officer at Transurban in 2018, looking after safety and incidents on our roads, specifically the Airport Link Tunnel. I was promoted to Network Operations Lead before moving into the Business Resilience team. I found so many transferrable skills from my sporting days – things like teamwork, adaptability, resilience, preparing for unplanned events, building the capability of our people and looking at ‘What can we control?’ and ‘How do we respond to it?’ It's incredible to see my skills being recognised in a corporate environment. And now, having a family of my own (three beautiful children), working at Transurban gives me the flexibility to work from home a couple of days a week to be able to support my kids, and drive them to all their trainings and games. Because, of course, they are now avid athletes too!

The M7-M12 Integration Project is widening 41 bridges along Sydney's M7 Motorway. Each bridge is like a complex puzzle, assembled off-site in a precast facility in Teralba, NSW. These massive structures, known as girders, are crafted to withstand the test of time. The journey of the first batch of 18 precast girders from Teralba to Sydney, via the M1, M2, and M7 Motorways is a story in itself. What’s next? Installation! Stay tuned to witness the transformation later this year.
