This week we sat down with Robbie – JOY Media radio superstar and IT Commercial Analyst here at Transurban! As a child of the 80's, I grew up listening to the likes of Madonna, Michael Jackson, Culture Club... As the list went on, so did my love of music. I started volunteering on community radio at the age of 12, presenting a drive-time show after school. My passion for music and radio continued well into the next decade and saw me travelling the world – teaching radio workshops at Summer Camp in the USA, then moving to London where I worked in a media and publishing house by day and wrote music reviews by night. Fast forward 10 years and it was time for me to turn the beat around – by moving back home to Australia and starting a show on JOY 94.9, which I still run to this day. The perfect mix of disco funk and soul, 'Turn the Beat Around' lets me relive the hits of the 70's and 80's, dropping great tracks and fun facts about the disco era. I feel accepted at JOY, just as I do at Transurban. The flexible working offered by Transurban allows me the headspace to do what I love both in and out of the office – indulging in my passions, while also seeing some great career progression. Joining Transurban was a great step up in my career. I was given the opportunity to really own my work, and the projects I was leading, surrounding specialised software. The company as a whole is such an empowering place to work – it's incredibly inclusive, and having previously worked in several different environments, I was genuinely delighted by how friendly and welcoming everyone was. As a proud member of Transurban's #PRIDE community, I love the energy of the team and the people I get to work with. Almost as much as I love a strong espresso – you can blame my Italian origins for that! #PrideMonth

"It is important to celebrate women in the workplace because women make valuable contributions. Highlighting the achievements women are making, especially in non-traditional roles, breaks down stereotypes and challenges gender norms thus creating a more inclusive environment where all people are valued and respected for who they are." – Gabby, Senior Project Engineer #WomenInEngineering
