Making NSW a better place to live, work and visit.

About us

We’re a New South Wales government organisation leading the group of transport agencies and divisions that keep NSW moving. With over 25,000 people working right across NSW, we drive the continual development of safe, integrated and efficient transport systems such as road, rail and maritime networks. We’re committed to delivering better transport for the future of NSW, shaping our cities, centres and communities for generations to come. Right now, we’re delivering an ambitious and once-in-a-generation $72.2 billion program of public infrastructure works – the largest transport infrastructure program in Australia’s history. That means more job opportunities than ever before in metropolitan and regional areas right across the state – and your chance to make a lasting impact that will benefit generations to come. If you think Transport for NSW is home only to engineers, tradies and mechanics, think again. We've got roles you may not expect to see at Transport – from drone operators to graphic designers, Crash Lab technicians to boating safety officers, bridge engineers to demand planners, and all kinds of experts in between. In an organisation that’s as large, diverse and dynamic as Transport for NSW, there are thousands of opportunities. But it’s not just about what we do – it’s the way that we do it. We’re taking a new approach to the way we work. We’re embracing new technology and new ways of working. We’re building an open work culture where our people from a diverse range of backgrounds can thrive and continue to innovate. The road ahead is full of possibility and there’s plenty of work to do. We need great people to help us get it done.

You might think Transport for NSW being connected with the Paris Olympics is a very 'long bow to draw'. But our very own Customer Service Attendant (CSA), Peter Boukouvalas, from St Peters Station, is heading to Paris for his first Olympic Games! 🏹🇦🇺 Peter, one of 460 athletes in the Australian team, will compete in archery at the Esplanade des Invalides on July 25th and from July 28th to August 4th. Before heading to Paris, the Sydney Trains leadership team visited Peter (pictured, centre) to wish him well. Peter joined Sydney Trains as a CSA at the age of 19 and loves helping passengers get to where they need to go, knowing that he has made a difference in someone’s day. Peter is on point for these games, but also has his eyes set to the future, with goals of furthering his career at Sydney Trains and also training for Brisbane 2032. We're all so proud of you and cheering you on Peter! 🙌 Good luck in Paris and beyond! 🌟 #Olympics #TeamAustralia #Archery #TransportforNSW #AussieAussieAussie

Earlier this month, we celebrated our annual Transport Awards, recognising outstanding teams and individuals for going above and beyond. 🎉🎉🎉 The following three teams were all recognised in categories aligned to our Future Transport Strategy outcomes. This strategy sets our direction of continuing to improve every part of our transport system for the benefit of customers, community, and the economy. ❄️🚌 Our Snowy Mountains Bus Service 2023 team was honoured for safely and seamlessly connecting tourists, workers, and Jindabyne locals to the snow fields. This service led to 80,000 passenger journeys in 2023 – five times more than in 2022 – with 95% customer satisfaction. They have continued their excellent work and customer-focused approach for the 2024 snow season. 📍🚌 In the north-west of NSW, the Wilba Bus team was acknowledged for introducing a flexible transport solution for the remote township of Bourke. The bus has been a life changer for a town and community with complex needs, that previously had no transport options. The service developed specifically to their requirements, now links them to family, friends, cultural activities and essential medical services, with over 2000 trips taken per month. 🌉🚗 The Heathcote Road Bridge Widening project was delivered by a small agile project team. The project improved road safety, network reliability, increased load capacity, asset life, maintainability, and construction safety while reducing motorist disruption. The project design and construction were delivered on time in a record 15 months, and $24 million under budget. 👏👏👏 Congratulations to all involved who go above and beyond to deliver for our people and communities! #Recognition #MakingADifference #TransportForNSW #2024TransportAwards

🚗 💻 Do you know someone who’s preparing for their learner licence? The Driver Knowledge Test (DKT) is now available online. As part of our 2026 Road Safety Action Plan, the DKT online has been developed in partnership with Service NSW. For the first time, customers can pass the DKT from the comfort of home, or anywhere they can access the internet. It’s an accessible path for learner drivers to understand road rules and safe driving behaviours. The DKT online puts our diverse customer at the centre of the experience, as it is fully accessible and includes features like text to speech which make it suitable for people with low literacy and dyslexia. It’s also offered in English and Simplified Chinese. Customers can attempt the test as many times as needed to pass for one fee, helping to reduce costs associated with obtaining a learner licence. This fee is paid when they go to their local Service NSW centre to apply for their licence. Don’t feel comfortable doing the test online? The DKT can still be completed in-person at a Service NSW Centre. You can access the test online here: https://lnkd.in/gPHx_vci #NSWRoads #RoadSafety #DriverKnowledgeTest #TransportForNSW

We are currently collaborating with the local Aboriginal community, organisations and individuals to gather Wiradjuri name suggestions for the New Dubbo Bridge. We have had some really thoughtful nominations so far. The Wiradjuri names suggested will be shortlisted by representatives from the local Aboriginal community. The wider Dubbo community will then be invited to give feedback on the shortlisted Wiradjuri names or suggest other names before a consultation report is provided to Council, who will recommend a name for the bridge. 👉 Members of the local Aboriginal community have until Wednesday 31 July to submit their Wiradjuri name suggestions for the New Dubbo Bridge, via this form: https://lnkd.in/g6ve4anQ

We’re excited to collaborate with different Government agencies to improve information access for our passengers and members of the community. 🤝 Recently, we teamed up with Service NSW to launch pop-up information kiosks at Epping and Westmead train stations. 🚉 This initiative was all about improving access to additional types of services and information at transport hubs, adapting the services available according to our passenger needs and making Government services more accessible, while encouraging more people to use our network. By engaging with passengers, Service NSW raised awareness of their Savings Finder program, which offers more than 70 rebates and vouchers to help reduce the cost of living. Our team also engaged with over 500 people on the day, completed over 400 surveys and received valuable feedback on service improvements and customer satisfaction. This collaboration allowed us to better understand passenger needs and adapt our service offerings. Following this successful trial, we're eager to partner with agencies and service providers on similar initiatives to boost passenger experience and community benefits. Interested? Contact us at [email protected]. #CommunityEngagement #ServiceNSW #Collaboration #TransportForNSW #CustomerFeedback

👷♂️🚂 In just one year, thousands of Sydney Trains maintenance crew and apprentices, supported by teams of contractors worked around the clock to remove over 2,000 high-priority defects and over 35,000 total defects. We know it hasn't been without its challenges for our passengers, and we are grateful for your patience. But we haven’t stopped there. We've now turned our attention to a Train Repair Plan - a major investment in the improvement of our fleet. This maintenance work will include improving technology, communications and operating systems, repairs to carriages, and projects to extend the life of the diesel fleet. Incidents on the rail network are inevitable, but keeping our fleet in top shape is our key priority to reduce delays and cancellations for our passengers. #RailRepairPlan #TrainRepairPlan #TransportforNSW #SydneyTrains

Our focus on sustainability and reducing our environmental impact takes many forms at Transport. 🌏 🤝 Sydney Trains’ Lost Property Donations team (pictured) has collaborated with Muru Mittigar, a proud Dharug Aboriginal Social Enterprise in Western Sydney, to redefine how unclaimed items are managed and transform them into valuable resources for the community. All sorts of interesting, weird and wonderful things show up in the Sydney Trains lost property office, and while the team work hard to reunite customers with their items, many unclaimed items are now donated. 📥 So far this year, unclaimed toys, bikes, sporting gear, household appliances, and clothing have gone to Muru Mittigar to be shared with charities and communities in need. 🚲 🧸 👛 In recognition of their innovative approach and continued focus on identifying charity partnerships, the team were recently recognised at the Sydney Trains Customer Experience Excellence Awards. #Innovation #Partnerships #Sustainability #SydneyTrains #TransportForNSW
