🌟Women in the Yass region now have the chance to kickstart their careers in the energy and construction industries through the EmPOWERing Regional Women program. This initiative, made possible by a collaboration between HumeLink East ACCIONA Genus Joint Venture and the NSW Government’s Women in Construction Industry Innovation Program, is designed to upskill and empower women for future roles. 👭 On Tuesday, a fantastic turnout of female jobseekers attended a workshop in Yass to explore opportunities within the HumeLink East project. We are continually exploring innovative ways to improve how we manage the network. ✨🚁We recently partnered with Carbonix to trial cutting-edge drone technology for 3D laser surveys of our network using LiDAR technology. This advanced tech helps us detect vegetation encroaching on transmission easements, so we can take action faster and be better prepared for the upcoming bushfire season. 💪Team work makes the dream work! Transgrid and Endeavour Energy (NSW) recently joined forces to safely relocate a family of magpies nesting close to a 132kV powerline at Transgrid’s Macarthur Bulk Supply Point (BSP). The precarious situation was further complicated by metal wires used in the nest hanging dangerously close to the powerline, posing a risk of a severe electrical arc. ⚡Our Control Room team and Endeavour Energy collaborated with On-call teams, taking swift action to de-energise the site and safely relocate the nest. In case you missed it, here’s Ch 9 News’ exclusive story about Transgrid’s innovative trial of advanced drone technology to keep local communities safe from bushfires. We recently teamed up with Sydney fixed-wing drone manufacturer Carbonix to conduct a trial flight of its long-range, hybrid powered un-crewed aerial vehicle in the Blue Mountains. Transmission line inspections using LiDAR technology detect vegetation growing in the vicinity of the easement and enable us to undertake timely vegetation management to reduce potential bushfire hazards. The use of cutting-edge drone technology instead of conventional crewed aircraft provides significant operational and environmental benefits, reducing cost and carbon footprint while improving safety and efficiency.
