Last Friday, our talented young team brought their Hollywood glamour to the New South Wales Young Rail Professionals Networking Ball! Hosted by the Australasian Railway Association (ARA), the evening was an incredible opportunity to build relationships, foster connections, and celebrate the next generation of rail leaders. A key theme of the night was recognising potential just as much as experience—a principle that deeply resonates with us at Transdev Sydney as we continue to nurture our leaders of tomorrow. It's good business to give young professionals the opportunity to shine, and if this team is anything to go by, the future of light rail in Sydney is in great hands. We can’t wait to see where they take us next!

Happy Rail Safety Week When it comes to incidents, it's not just the person or persons who get hurt—there are also significant impacts on the first responders, and often that’s our people! So our message is simple for this week and every week: Please don’t run the risk, walk and cycle around the light rail with care. When our drivers see something is not right up ahead, they cannot swerve the tram out of the way or bring it to a stop quickly. So please pay attention to your surroundings. Look and listen for trams: Put your phone down; Pause your tunes. Our collective activities during Rail Safety Week & beyond will help reach audiences far & wide, reminding our community to how to stay #railsafe. Let's all do our bit so we can stay safe together! Yesterday we had the pleasure of hosting some special guests as part of the Australasian Railway Association (ARA) Light Rail Conference. It's exciting to see the light rail network in Australia growing and evolving, and we love showing people around our depots and sharing knowledge with other like-minded folks. Looking forward to being inspired by the ARA conference content and presenters, all united by the vision of light rail reshaping the transport landscape and transforming the way we travel. We’re honoured to be nominated for an Australasian Railway Association (ARA) Rail Industry Award in the TrackSAFE Foundation 'Keeping Communities Safe Around Rail' category for last year’s Public Safety Forum at Allianz Stadium. The Forum, which united diverse stakeholders to devise effective strategies for keeping young people safe around light rail, was an innovative approach we’re quite proud of. Great to see the fantastic work of our team at Transdev Sydney Light Rail acknowledged and you can see the full lists of finalists here: https://bit.ly/4enKcRX . We’ll let you know how we fare at the Awards Ceremony on 7 August. Fingers crossed!

Guess who just got their ISO certificate renewed? ISO certification is an internationally recognised standard that Transdev Sydney uses to proves it meets rigorous quality management requirements. This certificate underscores our commitment to performance excellence in our light rail operations. Each year, we undergo regular surveillance audits to ensure we continue to meet the ISO standards' requirements. Specifically, ISO Certifications (14001, 45001, and 9001) recognise our competence for: •            environmental performance through more efficient use of resources and reduction of waste, and the trust of stakeholders •            safety performance and reducing the likelihood of accidents, injuries, and occupational illnesses •            services that meet customer and regulatory requirements. Renewing our ISO certificate is evidence of our unwavering dedication to quality and excellence in operating the Sydney Light Rail for our clients ALTRAC Light Rail and Transport for NSW. We look forward to participating in our next annual ISO Surveillance Audit.

We're passionate about every opportunity to engage with young people about safety around light rail! Today, we had the pleasure of presenting to 400 students from Bourke Street Primary School, which is situated quite close to where the Sydney Light Rail runs down Devonshire Street and near the newly opened Wimbo Park. Fun fact: The students prefer to call our vehicles trams, not light rail. A fun-filled presentation helps to emphasise the importance of crossing at designated places and looking, listening, and thinking carefully around the light rail at all times. A walk outside with the students and their teachers helps to set the scene. It's incredibly rewarding to share these 'play it safe' tips with our future riders, and we're grateful to Principal Jillian Wolfe for welcoming our visit. Hopefully, some of the young students in the audience today will share what they've learned with their families tonight (spoiler alert a tram weighs the same as five elephants), contributing to a safer community for everyone!

Proud to back Jo Haylen Minister and Transport for NSW in extending the operating hours of the L1 Dulwich Hill line to include more early morning and late-night services. Behind the scenes, our teams have worked diligently to ensure passengers enjoy a seamless and safe experience with these additional services. We can't wait to welcome more customers on board!

I wasn't a fan of the Inner West light rail's 11pm bed time. I heard that feedback from a lot of you too. So from Monday, trams will keep rolling until 1am. 7 days a week.

Australian trams have changed a lot over the years from the early steam and cable models to today’s technology. A group of Transdev Sydney Light Rail team experienced the evolution of the tram firsthand at the Sydney Tramway Museum recently. This behind-the-scenes tour was an opportunity to view older tram models and see how operating systems evolved over time. Recent patronage figures show that trams are fully back in Sydney-siders hearts, cumulating in 37.7 million tram trips across 2023. And there’s a new tram line taking shape in Parramatta with services starting later in 2024. Transdev’s own driver, Rickie, even got the opportunity to jump back into a tram he drove 16 years ago!
