LIV Accredited Criminal Law Specialist. Principal Lawyer, Gallant Law. Lecturer, College of Law. Professional Speaker. Founder: Connecting Lawyer Mums; Conversations with a Criminal Lawyer; and the SSJI.

The legal profession can be a bit of a dog eat dog world: there are some high achievers and Type A personalities that would be better off using their tenacity, drive and ambition to inspire and lift others. Not cut others down. My little girl is home sick right now. My dog has been snuggled up next to her, in a protective, loving and concerned mode, all afternoon. The beautiful Aunty Glendra Stubbs , a Wiradjuri woman and Elder, made a gorgeous quilt (pictured in the photo) for my daughter, all by hand. It’s my daughter’s favourite blanket now. Aunty describes her quilts as “being wrapped in love”. She gifts her quilts out of gratitude to her ancestors for putting good people in her life. I wonder what would happen if we turned our profession into a “dog cuddle dog” world? Or if more of us wrapped ourselves and others in love? If more of us viewed each person and experience with gratitude and an abundance over scarcity mindset? #kindness #thoughtleadership #legal #auslaw #professional #positivity #abundance Gallant Law AU Connecting Lawyer Mums™️

I had the privilege of attending the Australian Association of Collaborative Professionals (AACP) conference this week, and it was truly inspiring! The AACP is leading the way in promoting Collaborative Practice as a respectful and constructive method for resolving disputes, aiming for a future where conflicts are settled through cooperation, not contention. One of the most powerful takeaways for me was this: the letters we write aren’t just for the other side—they’re for our clients, too. We have the power to make every piece of communication kind, mindful, and respectful. Recently, I had to remind the other side (not once, but twice!) to keep their tone respectful. It was a great reminder that legal communication doesn’t have to be harsh—it can be empathetic and still get results. I am excited to bring these insights back to better serve my clients and further advocate for Collaborative Practice as a meaningful approach to conflict resolution. A huge thank you to the AACP for their dedication in advancing this cause, and to Perpetua Kish for organising such a fantastic event—you're a champion in the legal world! It was also a pleasure meeting Rose Cocchiaro who also founded her own law firm a few years ago. Hearing her journey was truly insightful, among many others. Looking forward to attending more conferences like this in the future! #AACPConference #CollaborativePractice #DisputeResolution #LegalProfession #ConflictResolution
