The cottage is open 4 days a week and holds a mix of community and in-centre activities facilitated by a group of incredible volunteers. “It can be hard for people aged in their 60s and 70s to make new friends. Volunteering is a great way to stay in touch with others, while also giving back – the best of both worlds”. Elyse is one of our amazing young carers, helping to look after her 6 year old sister who has Cerebral Palsy, global developmental delay and epilepsy. It wasn’t until recently Elyse started to have more responsibilities in her caring role and signed up to Carer Gateway for additional support. “Carer Gateway has helped me meet new people and do some fun activities which make me feel better and more relaxed.” You can see more of her story, plus find more information about support for carers by visiting our link: https://bit.ly/3Wh49lc
