Have you had a chance to ride aboard our newest Parramatta River Class ferry?⛴️ John Nutt, the second ferry in our new Parramatta River Class fleet, was named after Dr John Gilmour Nutt AM, the engineer who oversaw the construction of the world-famous Sydney icon – the Sydney Opera House. John pioneered the use of digital technology in the design and analysis of the Opera House sails – a ground-breaking innovation well ahead of its time that led to the creation of one of the 20th century greatest icons. We were thrilled to welcome John Nutt’s family and friends to officially inaugurate our second Parramatta River Class vessel named after him in a Transport for NSW ceremony presented by Tony New, Project Director, Greater Sydney and Howard Collins, Coordinator General who presented the day’s commemorative certificate to John’s son, Dr Nigel Nutt. A big thank you to Transport for NSW and working together towards such a joyful event. Our thanks also to our teams for all their help with organising the event. #sydneyferries #transdevferriessyd #transdev #TransportforNSW #drjohnnutt #parramattariverclass Gary Iddon Peter Lensink

⚡ Reducing the risk of electrical faults and fires on vessels – An important safety message from Australian Maritime Safety Authority – AMSA: The Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) recognises the importance of reducing the risk of electrical faults and fires caused by batteries and electrical installations on vessels. Since 2021, electrical installations and test records have been in the top 5 issues found during domestic commercial vessel inspections. The risk of electrical fire has increased as electrical systems have become more common and complex. AMSA offers safety management system guidance on how to address the risk of fires from batteries, portable device charging and wiring. Be aware of the common electrical hazards to look out for and implement best practices to ensure a safer boating experience.
