A warm welcome to our new Apprentice Grounds Person, Vanessa Fox.   Vanessa has joined the Sydney Showground team in a full-time capacity and will complete her ‘Certificate III in Parks & Gardens’ throughout her apprenticeship. She brings with her a range of experience having completed a phenomenal 1000 hours of volunteering at animal parks, zoos and farms.   Rhys Pigott, Head Sports Turf Curator said “Vanessa has a passion for agriculture so is a great fit with Sydney Showground as home to the Sydney Royal Easter Show. She will work on our annual flower displays at the dog judging lawn during the Easter Show, maintain our site wide planter boxes as well as gain experience working on preparation for major events in ENGIE Stadium”.   Sydney Showground is committed to reinvesting in skilled trades and fostering young talent through our apprenticeship program. Three of our senior Event team members represented Sydney Showground at the Venue Safety & Security Exchange Conference 2024 in Sydney today. The conference is one of Australia’s premier Event Safety and Security summits fostering innovation and learning. Mel Goodman, our Head of Events and Venue Operations shared her expertise presenting a case study on ‘Enhancing venue safety & security measures following a major incident’, and took part in a panel discussion, ‘Event safety and security planning challenges, innovative systems and working with emergency services to deliver safe events’. It’s great to see our team not only expanding their own knowledge but also sharing their expertise and experience with others.

Sydney Showground recognises the 2024 NAIDOC week, 7-14 July. NAIDOC week recognises the history, culture and achievement of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. Indigenous artist Deb Belyea shared that she uses fire in her art as a metaphor for culture because “culture is the passion that burns inside each and every one of us First Nations people. Culture is the fire that gives us knowledge, wisdom and purpose.” As we honour this flame, we kindle the sparks of pride and unity, igniting a renewed commitment to acknowledging, preserving, and sharing the cultural heritage that enriches our nation. #NAIDOC

It was a pleasure to welcome a group of Indian corporate incentive buyers for a site famil last Friday, arriving in spectacular style on the ENGIE Stadium field. They were treated to a delicious lunch exquisitely prepared by our Head Chef, Cyril Miletto and his team before the group flew off into the stunning Sydney sunset. NEWS: Sydney Showground launches Climate Conscious Events Initiative Here at Sydney Showground we have taken the next step in our commitment to targeting event sustainability by partnering with climate solutions organisation CLIMA. This initiative offers our clients the opportunity to understand the environmental impacts of their events and provide them with the tools to do something about it. Aimed at pioneering climate conscious events, our clients will have the opportunity to measure their events then receive a tailored report providing clear insights to help build strategies to reduce their greenhouse gas emissions. An added option is to become Climate Conscious Certified by offsetting their emissions and supporting carbon projects that align with their company’s values. READ MORE:

It’s a double! We are honoured to have been awarded Australia’s ‘BEST EVENT VENUE’ (capacity >1,000) at the Meeting and Events Association (MEA) National Awards last night, for the second year in a row. After celebrating a record-breaking year in 2023, and delivering over 250 events including hosting the International Broadcast Centre for the FIFA Women’s World Cup, we are thrilled to have been recognised by the industry. Congratulations to our entire Sydney Showground team for consistently making the event magic happen and of course, thank you to all our partners, suppliers and clients for entrusting us with your events.

Moving mountains here at Sydney Showground (or building one anyway!) in preparation for this weekend’s National 4x4 Outdoors Show which opens Friday. The jaw-dropping 4WD demos with 'MadMatt' are not to be missed. It’s going to be BIGGER than Mount Maxxis!
