Milestone alert: Surreal has paid over $100,000,000 to artists worldwide. We're proud of what this number represents—the tens of thousands of gigs, the artists and venues making them happen, and the people in the crowd, cheering on. Truthfully, we've been so focused that we completely missed this milestone and only realised it this week 😂 (a few weeks after hitting it). While $100M is a massive number, we have a long way to go. We're proud of this one: the Surreal Schedule View for Agents is here 🎉 Your entire artist roster, artist availabilities, all your venues, and bookings are now in one spot. It's like Google Cal, but built specifically for booking agents. This tool will help booking agents work faster, remove administrative frustrations, and get more done, allowing them to focus on delivering more and more incredible experiences 🪩 The team worked tirelessly on this, collaborating closely with a few agent advisors. 🍻 Carlton & United Breweries (CUB) is supporting Ausmusic T-Shirt Day with the inaugural LIV LOUD concert program! 🎸 We're loving this initiative involving 40 venues across Australia receiving cash grants to host concerts in November, aiming to revitalise off-peak nights. SXSW Sydney kicked off with an illuminating opening address by John Graham MLC, shedding light on critical aspects of the city's culture. With a passionate focus on jobs, tourism, arts, music, and the night scene, he highlighted the profound impact of creativity in our lives. John's words serve as a powerful reminder that creativity isn't just a luxury; it's a valuable resource that drives innovation and vibrancy in our communities. He encouraged all of us to actively participate in fostering a culture of creativity in Sydney. During his address, John recounted the challenges Sydney faced over the past 12 years, with a significant decline in music venues and infamous lockout laws.  “Over the past 12 years, the number of music venues in New South Wales halved and at its low point there were only 133 licensed music venues left in the state. Sydney's lockout laws had become a global embarrassment” Iconic artists like Madonna and Prince “received the steely shake of the Sydney bouncer’s head”. However, as John emphasized, Sydney fought back. We have started as a government to change the laws in this state, to value music, to value creativity, to support the community and bring back vibrancy.” We hope he’s right and this second chance can nurture and celebrate the creative spirit that defines Sydney. #SXSW2023 #SydneyCreativity #CommunitySupport #MusicRevival #ArtsandCulture
